We are looking for an experienced Senior Social Worker to be based in Akkar. 

The senior social worker in Akkar is responsible for leading and coordinating social work services for newly arrived Syrians in Akkar. This role involves overseeing interventions, mentoring junior staff, and supporting improvements in service delivery processes. The senior social worker must follow Tabitha’s policies regarding safeguarding, code of conduct, and protection from sexual exploitation and abuse of the affected population.

Main Tasks:

Case Management & Clinical Oversight 

  • Manage complex, high-risk cases with sound professional judgment 
  • Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and ensure timely interventions 
  • Lead safeguarding investigations and Section 47 assessments 

Staff Supervision & Capacity Building 

  • Supervise and mentor social workers, interns, and newly qualified staff 
  • Provide reflective supervision and support trauma-informed practice 
  • Act as a Practice Educator or Assessor for student social workers 

Service Development & Quality Assurance 

  • Contribute to policy and procedure reviews 
  • Promote continuous improvement through audits and case reviews 
  • Lead training sessions and represent the team in strategic forums 

Partnership & Advocacy 

  • Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, community agencies, and legal bodies 
  • Ensure necessary staff to other staff members when needed 
  • Advocate for service users’ rights and access to resources 
  • Coordinate referrals and discharge planning with external partners 

Meetings and reporting  

  • Attend meetings manly sector working groups and other when necessary.  
  • Report to the line manager in a timely manner with a high standard of accuracy. 
  • Ensure proper reporting and timely data collection  

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work  or equivalent 
  • Previous experience in social work, with supervisory duties 
  • Familiarity with national protection frameworks and MHPSS standards 
  • Experience in working with diverse populations and complex trauma
