Job Description
The speech and language therapist is expected to:
1. Assess and identify the speech and/or language difficulty or disorder.
2. Devise and deliver a suitable intervention program, working in a one-on-one basis or in groups, to enable each of the clients to improve as much as possible.
3. Revise the intervention program as appropriate after monitoring and evaluating the client’s progress.
4. Advise caregivers on implementing an intervention program through giving accurate information.
5. Discuss cases with team members to improve effectiveness of service delivery.
6. Review the client's file prior to their appointment and have a clear understanding of the challenge to be addressed.
7. Write confidential client case notes and different types of reports.
Education/Qualification Requirements
The following requirements are essential:
1. Bachelor Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
2. Two years of work experience as a speech and language therapist.
3. Excellent communication and listening skills, to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds, motivate clients and gain trust.
4. Creativity and problem-solving skills.
5. The ability to work in a team through detailed follow-up.
6. Organizational skills and flexibility, to deal with a range of clients and caregivers in varied settings.
