Survivor-Led Storytelling Trainer

  1. Background

The Lebanese Women Democratic Gathering (RDFL) is implementing a multi-sectoral initiative funded by the UN Trust Fund to end gender-based violence against women and girls in Lebanon. This four-year project addresses systemic barriers through legal empowerment, psychosocial support, economic resilience, and survivor-led advocacy.

As part of this initiative, RDFL will facilitate storytelling workshops in Mount Lebanon and Bekaa to amplify the voices of marginalized women and girls, fostering healing, public awareness, and legal reform. The workshops will prioritize Lebanese and Syrian refugee survivors, including women with disabilities.

2.Objective of the Assignment

To plan and deliver inclusive, trauma-informed storytelling workshops that empower GBV survivors to craft and share personal narratives through writing, voice, or media, promoting advocacy and community transformation.

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1 Planning ad Preparation

• Design survivor-centered storytelling workshops aligned with RDFL’s feminist values and advocacy goals
• Adapt content for diverse participants—including adolescents, refugees, and women with disabilities
• Coordinate with Head of GBV and legal staff to ensure ethical storytelling frameworks

3.2 Facilitation

• Deliver 12 storytelling sessions (6 per location) using trauma-informed and participatory methods
• Apply creative techniques (oral narrative, visual prompts, guided writing) to foster engagement
• Create safe spaces for survivors to share experiences confidentially and voluntarily

3.3 Reporting and Coordination

• Document attendance, participant feedback, and learning outcomes
• Prepare session summaries and flag protection concerns for follow-up
• Contribute to final evaluation and compilation of stories for RDFL’s campaigns

4. Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in storytelling facilitation, ideally with marginalized communities
  • Strong knowledge of GBV principles and methodologies, SRHR, and legal rights frameworks
  • Ability to engage vulnerable groups with empathy and without discrimination
  • Female candidates strongly encouraged to apply
  • Arabic fluency; strong emotional intelligence and gender awareness.
