Project Main Activities implemented by RMF:
The Economic Development and Food Security project is aimed at sustaining agricultural production and increasing economic resilience for farmers, agricultural service providers and agro-processing MSMEs. The project will achieve this through three main activities; (1) supporting 150 farmers in Akkar and the North with training, agricultural inputs and subsidized labor therefore increasing their production yield, enhancing the quality and decreasing their production costs of vegetables; (2) engaging 60 service providers in short term employment opportunities therefore increasing their income and enhancing their economic resilience and (3) empowering 6 MSMEs with training and equipment therefore reducing their production cost and enhancing their productivity.
Areas of intervention: Akkar (Bhanine, Bqarezla, Jdayde, Cheikh Taba) and the North (Arde, Kferdlekous, Kferhabou, Mejdlaya, Rachine, Deir Nbouh, Besebeel, Daraya and Arjess).
Project donor: Norwegian Church Aid (NCA).
Consultancy duration: September 2025 – November 2025 (3 months).
Objective of the Consultancy:
RMF is seeking to recruit a vegetables GAP expert that will conduct a comprehensive capacity building program consisting of GAP theoretical trainings as well as extension services tackling technical know-how, field applications based on best practices, tailored personalized coaching and online support.
Scope of Work:
- The consultant will be responsible for developing GAP training modules and delivering the trainings for the selected farmers. Topics will include fertilization, new plantations, weed management, irrigation, plant training, pest and disease control, harvesting, post-harvest, diversification and resilience to climate change and biodiversity enhancement.
- The consultant will be required to provide personalized technical assistance and support to the farmers directly in their fields and or greenhouses to ensure that they are able to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training.
- The consultant will be required to provide regular updates and progress reports on the training activities.
- The consultant will report to the Project Manager at RMF and will work closely with the project team.
Competencies, skills and experience
- At least 10 years of relevant experience, including experience in capacity building, development and consultancies
- Experience in developing training materials and/or performing coaching
- Experience in project design, implementation, monitoring and reporting
- Good knowledge of the Lebanese climatic and environmental conditions
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills
- Excellent writing and presentation skills in English and Arabic
- University degree in agronomy, agricultural value chain management, agricultural economics, agricultural engineering or related fields.
- Master’s degree or PhD will be highly considered.
