Peacebuilding and Social Stability Project Coordinator

Background
SHiFT Social Innovation Hub is a Lebanese NGO based in Qobbeh, Tripoli. SHiFT is committed to socioeconomic revival of the post-conflict neighborhoods of Qobbeh, Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbeneh and sees as its vision the social transformation of these neighborhoods into prosperous, peaceful and cohesive communities The objective of this program is to is contribute to the overall goal of conflict resolution, peace building and reconciliation through the implementation of communal activities, and projects in targeted communities in North Lebanon.

JOB SUMMARY
The Project Coordinator (PC) will play a key role in supporting the implementation of SHiFT’s peacebuilding activities on the ground. The PC will ensure the smooth coordination of field-level interventions, build strong community relations, and provide technical and operational support to achieve program objectives.

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Implementation and Coordination
▪ Coordinate day-to-day implementation of peacebuilding and social stability activities in target communities.
▪ Support the Program Manager in planning, organizing, and monitoring program interventions.
▪ Liaise with community stakeholders, local partners, and beneficiaries to ensure inclusivity and effective participation.
▪ Assist in developing and updating activity workplans, ensuring timely delivery of outputs.
▪ Coordinate logistics for trainings, workshops, and communal initiatives.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
▪ Ensure accurate collection of program data in coordination with the MEAL team.
▪ Document lessons learned, success stories, and challenges from field activities.
▪ Draft periodic progress reports for submission to the Program Manager.
▪ Support in monitoring financial and material resources allocated to project activities.

Community and Stakeholder Engagement
▪ Maintain strong working relations with community groups, local authorities, and other NGOs.
▪ Facilitate dialogue and participatory approaches to strengthen community ownership of peacebuilding initiatives.
▪ Ensure that project activities are culturally sensitive and conflict-sensitive.

Administration and Compliance
▪ Ensure field-level activities comply with SHiFT’s internal policies and donor requirements.
▪ Support financial and administrative documentation related to project activities.
▪ Coordinate with the Communications Department to provide inputs for visibility and awareness.

Team Support and Capacity Building
▪ Supervise field staff, volunteers, and community mobilizers engaged in program activities.
▪ Provide on-the-job mentoring and capacity building to staff and community groups.
▪ Assist in recruitment processes and preparation of ToRs for short-term consultants as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
▪ Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Political Science, International Relations, Social Sciences, or related field (Master’s is a plus).
▪ At least 3 years of experience coordinating community-based peacebuilding, social stability, or conflict mitigation projects.
▪ Previous experience with UNDP, IOM, GIZ or other international agencies in social stability projects is desirable.
▪ Strong interpersonal and communication skills in both Arabic and English (spoken and written).
▪ Proven experience in community engagement and institutional liaison.
▪ Ability to work under pressure with patience, flexibility, and problem-solving capacity.
▪ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
▪ Strong organizational and coordination skills.
▪ Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
▪ Demonstrated understanding of conflict-sensitive approaches.
▪ Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines.

CONDITIONS
▪ Full-time position: 5 days/week, 8 hours/day (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
▪ Willingness to travel locally and internationally as required.
▪ Flexibility to work evenings or weekends based on community engagement needs.
