Istituto Oikos intends to award a supply contract for Supply and Installation of high efficiency biomass heating systems in the Shouf Biosphere Reserve (SBR) and in Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve (JMBR). The project falls within the framework of the project “Resiland - Promoting resilience to climate change through planning, capacity development and integrated land management” AID 012590/06/4, cofunded by the Italian Agency for Cooperation and development (AICS).
The demand for energy and electricity has weighed heavily on the Lebanese economy in recent years, a country exclusively dependent on imports of petroleum products to ensure the production of electricity and heating.
For this reason, the scope of this call aimed at gathering proposals from local economic operators for energy efficiency improvement measures such as-high efficiency biomass stoves using woodchips and briquettes.
This tender will directly benefit three different entities, who have been carrying out environmental activities trying to reduce the impact of climate change in Lebanon. Those entities, namely: Batloun Municipality, the visitor center at the Qehmez Entrance and École Immaculée Conception in Ghbaleh, nowadays rely on fossil fuel as heating source, and they are trying to minimize their environmental impact.
