Background
RDFL, under the project “Boosting Women’s Participation in Lebanon’s Public Sphere through Syndicate Leadership”, is strengthening women’s leadership capacities within trade unions and professional associations. As part of this effort, a two-day participatory planning workshop will be held with 16 selected women participants who have completed prior training in leadership, negotiation, and advocacy.
Objective of the Assignment
The facilitator will design and deliver a participatory workshop to support participants in identifying priority advocacy issues and developing concrete, actionable advocacy plans. The facilitator will also provide an additional day of technical support to assist participants in designing the specific activities of their advocacy plans (Activity 4.2).
Scope of Work / Tasks
The facilitator will be responsible for the following:
- Preparation:
- Prepare a brief workshop agenda and relevant materials in coordination with RDFL.
- Day 1 (Theory & Issue Identification):
- Introduce the concept of advocacy, key approaches, and practical examples.
- Guide participants in identifying issues relevant to their syndicates.
- Facilitate the creation of two working groups, each selecting one issue to work on.
- Day 2 (Planning & Development):
- Support each group in drafting an advocacy plan, including objectives, stakeholders, actions, and timeline.
- Ensure that both groups finalize written advocacy plans by the end of the session.
- Day 3 (Designing Advocacy Activities – Activity 4.2):
- Provide follow-up support to both groups to refine and design detailed advocacy activities.
- Assist participants in aligning their proposed actions with available resources, timelines, and syndicate contexts.
- Ensure each group develops a practical activity plan that complements their overall advocacy strategy.
- Reporting:
- Document and share the outcomes of the three-day engagement with RDFL (summary of process, identified issues, developed advocacy plans, and designed activities).
Deliverables
- Workshop agenda and facilitation materials.
- Two finalized advocacy plans (one per group).
- Designed list of advocacy activities (Activity 4.2).
- Short report (3–5 pages) summarizing workshop proceedings, results, and follow-up recommendations.
Duration
- Three working days: -Two consecutive days of facilitation.
-One additional day of follow-up support for designing advocacy activities
Qualifications
- Proven experience in facilitation, advocacy training, or related fields.
- Familiarity in gender equality, labor rights, and syndicate dynamics in Lebanon is an asset.
- Strong communication and participatory facilitation skills.
