Olive Oil Expert – Technical Assistance for Processing and Quality Enhancement

1. Objective of the Assignment
To strengthen MSMEs’ capacity in olive oil production and post-harvest handling, ensuring
high-quality and market-ready products.


2. Scope of Work
● Deliver two one-on-one clinics per MSME (2 hours each) focusing on:
o Session 1: Technical assessment, best harvesting and pressing practices,
equipment operation, and oil extraction methods.
o Session 2: Quality assessment, storage conditions, and sensory evaluation
techniques.

● Provide guidance on lab testing for acidity, peroxide levels, and sensory attributes and
for olive oil grading criteria.
● Recommend improvements for storage tanks, filtration systems, and packaging to
preserve oil quality.

3. Expected Deliverables
● Technical Assessment & Improvement Plan — Covers evaluation, recommendations,
and action points for disease management, harvesting optimization, and olive oil quality
enhancement per MSME.
● Product Quality & Optimization Report — Includes sensory and quality checklists,
improved olive oil processing, new product development, and best practices.
● Attendance sheets and pictures

4. Duration and Timeline
● Total MSMEs: 2
● Clinics per MSME: 2 one-on-one clinics (2 hours each)
● Implementation Period: 3 November – 28 November 2025
● Sessions will take place on-site at MSME premises in West Bekaa and/or South Baalbek.

5. Qualifications and Experience
● Degree in Food Science, Agriculture, or Olive Oil Technology.
● At least 10 years of experience in olive oil production, quality control, and lab testing.
● Familiarity with LIBNOR and International standards.
● Proven experience providing technical assistance to olive oil producers or cooperatives.

7. Reporting and Supervision
The expert will report directly to the Project Manager at MDSF and coordinate closely with the
MDSF technical team for scheduling, on-site visits, and documentation review.

8. Payment Terms
● 100 % payment after completion of the one-on-one clinics, submission and approval of
all deliverables.
● Payments will be made via bank transfer or telegraphic transfer (TT), and a tax
deduction of 8.5% will apply in accordance with Lebanese law (Articles 41 & 42) if the
MOF documentation is not provided.

9. Submission Requirements
Applicants should provide:
● Updated CV or company profile
● Technical and financial proposal (cost per MSME or per clinic).
● Copy of MOF certificate and ID/registration.


10. Confidentiality
All MSME information is strictly confidential.
The expert shall not share or publish any data, documents, or findings without prior written
authorization from MDSF.
