ECD Facilitator - Akkar

The ECD Facilitator supports the delivery of quality early childhood services by leading play sessions for children, ensuring engagement, learning, and safety. This role includes facilitating activities, managing crowds during ECD sessions and supporting community outreach activities when needed.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Support in setting up new ECD corners and/or organizing and managing current ones. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to run the corners.
  • Ensure needed materials, books, and toys are available in the corner, clean, safe, and age appropriate. When necessary, be in charge of procuring necessary items and tools in coordination with the project teams.
  • Conduct and supervise play-based activities for children.
  • Ensure a safe and organized environment during sessions and activities.
  • Encourage children’s participation, ensure each child feels welcomed and supported, and ensure a safe and child-friendly environment during all activities.
  • Manage crowd dynamics effectively, preventing overcrowding and ensuring orderly participation.
  • Identify and report any concerns or incidents to the community nutrition and ECD Educator immediately.
  • Assist the ECD Educator in preparing play materials, activity plans, and learning spaces.
  • Participate in outreach activities to engage families and caregivers when needed.
  • Disseminate key messages and provide awareness sessions on Health and Nutrition topics with a focus on Early Childhood Development (ECD) and infant and young child feeding (IYCF) to beneficiaries at the community level when needed.
  • Link the communities to the national IYCF hotline to receive needed IYCF support.
  • Conduct ECD screening at the community level and refer cases to specialized ECD care when needed.
  • Distribute micronutrients supplements to children aged 6-59 months at the community level, when needed.
  • Link the community to the nearest PHCCs, inform them of the services provided by the PHCCs.
  • Conduct community screening for acute malnutrition and refer identified malnutrition cases to the screening and treatment centers.
  • Submit reports to the community Nutrition and ECD educators as requested.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Preferable education degree: Health, nutrition Sciences or any related field.
  • Certificate in ECD and/or community development, teaching or related field is a plus.
  • Prior experience working with young children is preferred.
  • Fluency in reading/writing/speaking Arabic is necessary.
  • Good public speaking and communication skills.
  • Strong social, interpersonal, and intercultural skills.
  • Strong group and crowd management skills.
  • Team player.
  • Caring, creative, patient, and approachable personality.
  • Able to meet deadlines.
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Experience required: Less than one year.

III. Working Conditions

  • Stationed in the field, outreach locations and ECD corners.
  • It is preferable that candidate resides in the area of interest and that candidates can commute with his/her own car.
