This position is part of the LHF-funded project (CBPF-LEB-25-S-NGO-35784) titled “Pillar III: Food Security – Feeding Pillar I”, which aims to support affected farmers with capacity building and unconditional cash assistance, while linking local agricultural production to SBT’s community kitchens in Saida and Tyre.
Purpose of the Position
The Agricultural Technical Advisor will support the project through the design and delivery of nine technical awareness and training sessions for farmers in Saida, Tyre, and Nabatieh cadasters. The training will follow MoA and FAO guidelines on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Food Waste Reduction, and Market Production. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing farmers’ technical capacity to boost productivity and resilience in the face of ongoing crises.
Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development
- Develop a clear and practical training curriculum aligned with MoA and FAO guidelines, adapted to local context and farmer profiles.
- Integrate components on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), food waste reduction, and sustainable market production.
- Training Delivery
- Deliver 3 technical awareness sessions per cadaster (Saida, Tyre, Nabatieh), targeting 130 farmers in total.
- Ensure interactive and participatory training methods that enhance knowledge retention and practical application.
- Integrate conflict sensitivity, protection, and environmental sustainability principles within the sessions.
- Farmer Engagement & Coordination
- Coordinate closely with MoA regional offices to align training content with national standards.
- Support SBT’s field teams in mobilizing and engaging MoA-registered farmers.
- Provide technical guidance to ensure farmers can utilize the unconditional cash support effectively.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain attendance sheets, session summaries, and training evaluations for all sessions.
- Submit a final technical report summarizing the sessions conducted, key lessons learned, and recommendations for future programming.
Required Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
(Master’s degree or equivalent technical certifications are a plus.) - Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in agricultural extension, farmer training, or advisory services.
- Proven experience in working with NGOs or community-based organizations in Lebanon.
- Familiarity with FAO and MoA standards and guidelines.
- Experience in capacity building and participatory training methodologies.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical knowledge of sustainable agriculture and Good Agricultural Practices.
- Excellent facilitation and communication skills in Arabic (English is a plus).
- Good reporting and documentation skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with farmers, MoA officials, and project teams.
- Mandatory Requirement:
- Must be officially registered or affiliated with the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA).
Working Conditions
- Duty Station: Saida, Tyre, and Nabatieh cadasters.
- Level of Effort: 9 sessions total between November and December 2025.
- Contract Type: Consultant – Short Term.
- Remuneration: 60 USD per session (total 540 USD), inclusive of transportation.
- Other: Attendance at coordination meetings may be required.
