Position Overview
The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Officer will play a key role in integrating MEAL practices across research and project activities, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and donor requirements. This position involves developing frameworks, managing data systems, and supporting capacity building to enhance project and center effectiveness and impact, among other tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with researchers, project managers, and field staff to embed MEAL practices in all projects
- Contribute to project and center proposals by defining MEAL plans and indicators
- Develop logical frameworks to align project goals with measurable outcomes and indicators
- Develop and update indicators for the center as a whole and for the different projects based on evaluation and monitoring findings
- Design and manage data collection tools and methodologies for evaluation, across projects and center activities
- Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date databases and systems to track project progress and research activities
- Maintain ethical standards in data collection, including consent and confidentiality
- Track project progress and manage documentation related to activities and outputs
- Maintain organized records of data, reports, and learning materials
- Compile and analyze data for internal use and reporting
- Ensure timely and compliance reporting to project managers, director, and donors
- Document lessons learned, good practices, and challenges from projects and research activities
- Build capacity of staff in MEAL tools and methodologies and provide support to other center activities
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor or Master’s in environmental science, ecology, development studies, social science, data science, international relations, statistics, or any related field
- 1-3 years of professional experience in MEAL
- Strong qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis skills
- Solid data management skills, including database maintenance and data visualization techniques
- Experience with Power BI or similar software is an asset
- Proficiency in data analysis and report writing
- Fluency in Arabic and English
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Flexible and adaptable to evolving project needs
- Strong problem-solving skills with a commitment to achieving project goals
