COMMUNITY HEALTH EDUCATOR - NORTH

Accountabilities

 

 

  • Prepare material and deliver health education sessions, messages and topics addressed to different populations regarding hygiene, diseases and prevention.
  • Ensure all the patients and caretakers are well informed, according to protocols, about health related issues and services provided.
  • Monitor health situation and living conditions of the population by conducting nutritional screening, collecting information related to food security, checking vaccination status
  • of children, looking actively for any defaulters in programs that require this type of research, collecting information on number of people arriving or leaving the community,
  • births and deaths in the community, etc.
  • Identify people with medical problems, contact with medical team and report for immediate transfer if needed. He/she has to inform to the line manager about any problem
  • encountered (population, equipment, material).
  • Report to line manager of all results of screening and visits on a regular basis.

 

 

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

 

1. Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) Activities

  • Provide clear and accurate information to community members about MMU services through community focal points.
  • Promote MSF medical, mental health, and social worker services (MHPSS/SW) in the MMU target areas.
  • Identify individuals in need of further assessment and complete referral forms when required.
  • Conduct awareness sessions based on community needs (hygiene, communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, etc.).
  • Support community engagement to ensure smooth organization and patient flow during MMU visits.
  • Ensure that all interactions with community members uphold MSF’s standards of respect, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.

 

2. Primary Health Care centre(PHCC) Support

  • Promote MSF-supported services inside the PHCC and in surrounding communities.
  • Conduct awareness sessions on the medical and mental health activities available within the PHCC.
  • Contact patients who miss their appointments and support follow-ups to reduce defaulting.
  • Assist in organizing health-related events, campaigns, or awareness days inside and outside the PHCC.
  • Deliver community awareness sessions on a weekly basis in areas surrounding the PHCC.
  • Identify patients requiring additional support and refer them to the Social Worker or Mental Health teams as appropriate.
  • Inform the line manager of any service updates, challenges, community rumors, or emerging concerns.
  • Collect, record, and submit all required data accurately and on time, following MSF reporting standards.
  •  Ensure that all activities conducted within the PHCC respect MSF protocols, patient confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain positive and professional communication with team, community leaders, focal points, PHCC staff, and beneficiaries.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions as requested by the line manager.
  • Always represent MSF in a respectful and professional manner, ensuring alignment with MSF principles of neutrality, independence, impartiality, and medical ethics.
  • Support any additional tasks requested by the line manager that fall within the scope of MSF operations.

Literacy is essential. An internal MSF training on health messages will be necessary.
