Agrometeorological Early Warning Bulletin (21 - 30 November 2025) [EN/AR]

HIGHLANDS OF YEMEN FACE SIGNIFICANT FROST THREAT

Overview:
Yemen’s third dekad of November 2025 is expected to be cooler and drier as the country transitions into the winter season. Temperatures will be near or slightly above average, with very cold nights in the highlands that may persist over the coming weeks. The lack of availability of water and moisture is increasing water stress for rain-fed crops and affecting the planting of winter vegetables in irrigated areas.

Key Forecasts for Late-November 2025

• Precipitation: Rainfall is expected to remain low, consistent with seasonal patterns, and close to normal compared to typical trends.
• Temperature: In the coming days, temperatures are anticipated to be generally lower than in previous dekads. In the highlands, minimum nighttime temperatures may drop below 4°C, increasing the risk of frost in areas such as Sa’ada, Amran, Sana’a, Amanat Al Asimah, Dhamar, and Ibb (see Fig. 1). Conversely, coastal areas and eastern desertic regions are expected to experience higher daytime temperatures, reaching around 32°C.
