About the project

"Strong Female Voices for a United Syria" is a DW Akademie initiative aimed at empowering women media professionals and civil society actors to combat gender-based violence online (GBVO) and disinformation. A key component involves establishing sustainable digital platforms for ongoing knowledge sharing, advocacy, and capacity building.  

 

Position overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Activity Coordinator to oversee the development, management, and sustainability of online platforms dedicated to knowledge exchange and advocacy. The coordinator will also support other project activities, including participation in the Idea Lab, overseeing action plans, and liaising with stakeholders.

 

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the expansion and maintenance of the “Safe & Loud” website into a comprehensive resource hub.
  • Facilitate and moderate an active online community.
  • Develop mechanisms supporting ongoing discussions, resource sharing, and coordination.
  • Organise and support regular virtual meetings, webinars, and resource exchanges.
  • Collaborate with project partners to ensure platform relevance, engagement, and sustainability.
  • Provide technical support and capacity building for local entities managing the platforms.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of other project activities (Idea Lab, action plan oversight).
  • Prepare periodic activity reports detailing platform usage, engagement, and impact.
  • Implement and consider security aspects when working with the “Safe & Loud” website as well as during further online communications

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing digital platforms, online communities, or knowledge portals.
  • Strong understanding of media, disinformation, GBVO, and gender issues in Syria.
  • Fluency in both English and Arabic (spoken and written) is required.
  • Excellent organisational, communication, and technical skills.
  • Ability to work independently, project manager, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in capacity building and ensuring sustainability of digital assets.

 

Duration & Terms

  • Work Scope: approximately five days per month
  • Duration: 1.1.2026 - 31.12.2026
  • Location: Remote with possible travel to Syria
