Country Finance Assistant

The Country Finance Assistant supports daily financial operations, including budget monitoring, grant tracking, payment processing, and maintaining accurate financial records. The role assists with financial reporting, cost allocations, and audit preparation while ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements. Working closely with the finance department and program staff, the Finance Assistant helps ensure smooth and accurate financial processes across all projects.

Main Responsibilities of the Position:

1-Financial Operations & Fund Management

  • Assist in monitoring project budgets and expenditures to ensure alignment with donor requirements.
  • Track grants and donor funds, ensuring proper allocation and utilization in coordination with the Country Finance Manager and accounting team.
  • Process reimbursements, advances, and payments, coordinating with the accounting team for accurate posting.
  • Assist in preparing reports regarding allocations and donor budget spending.
  • Assist in cash flow planning and liquidity management for projects and organizational operations.
  • Assist in ensuring accurate allocation of costs across multiple projects, donors, and cost centers.

2-Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Support in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the finance department and donors.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and potential issues regarding donors and allocations.
  • Assist in preparing allocation/donor plans and monitoring the budget throughout the year.
  • Support program managers in understanding financial reports related to their budgets.

3-Accounting Operations

  • Process payments and transactions to the bank (once per week).
  • Communicate with the Accountant Assistants in case of any discrepancies.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately in the accounting system.
  • Maintain organized financial records and proper documentation for all transactions.
  • Assist in preparing audit reports and supporting document reviews.

4-Collaboration & Support

  • Liaise between program staff and the accounting department to ensure accurate financial recording and reporting.
  • Provide financial guidance to project teams regarding budgeting, expenditure, and financial compliance.
  • Support the Country Head of Finance in projects, grant proposals, and financial reviews.
  • Oversee day-to-day financial operations and ensure proper implementation of financial policies and procedures.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or administrative roles (INGO or NGO experience is a plus).
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in financial software (Navision) and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English and Arabic.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
