The Country Finance Assistant supports daily financial operations, including budget monitoring, grant tracking, payment processing, and maintaining accurate financial records. The role assists with financial reporting, cost allocations, and audit preparation while ensuring compliance with organizational and donor requirements. Working closely with the finance department and program staff, the Finance Assistant helps ensure smooth and accurate financial processes across all projects.
Main Responsibilities of the Position:
1-Financial Operations & Fund Management
- Support budget monitoring by tracking project expenditures and ensuring alignment with donor requirements.
- Follow up on grant budgets and ensure the proper allocation and utilization of funds in coordination with the Country Head of Finance and the accounting team.
- Process reimbursements, advances, and payments, ensuring accurate posting in collaboration with the accounting team.
- Contribute to cash flow planning and liquidity management for projects and organizational operations.
2-Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and donors.
- Review financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas requiring attention.
- Support the preparation and monitoring of donor allocation plans and annual budget forecasts.
- Provide project managers with tailored financial insights to guide decision making and ensure sound budget oversight.
3-Accounting Operations
- Facilitate weekly bank transactions and payment requests accurately and on time.
- Coordinate with accounting assistants to resolve discrepancies or missing documentation.
- Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded in the accounting system.
- Maintain organized and complete financial records and supporting documents.
- Support audit processes by preparing required files and facilitating document reviews.
4-Collaboration & Support
- Act as a liaison between program teams and the accounting department to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
- Provide guidance to project teams on budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial compliance.
- Support the Country Head of Finance with grant-related tasks, budgeting, and financial reviews.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or administrative roles (INGO or NGO experience is a plus).
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in financial software (Navision) and Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in English and Arabic.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities.
