MEAL Coordinator - Lebanon & Syria

The Objective of the Job:

The MEAL Coordinator supports the effective implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning activities across HAND projects in Syria and Lebanon. The role ensures timely data collection, proper documentation, and coordination with program teams to support evidence-based decision-making and improve program quality. The MEAL Coordinator works under the supervision of the MEAL Manager and contributes to strengthening accountability and learning systems within the organization.

Monitoring & Data Management:

  • Support the development and implementation of project-specific MEAL plans, tools, and indicators.
  • Coordinate and conduct regular data collection using approved tools (surveys, checklists, interviews, FGDs).
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry, cleaning, and organization.
  • Maintain updated project databases and assist in preparing dashboards and data summaries.
  • Conduct routine monitoring visits to field locations when required and document findings.

Evaluation & Learning:

  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of internal evaluations and assessments.
  • Support third-party evaluators through data collection, document sharing, and field coordination.
  • Help organize and document learning workshops, after-action reviews, and lessons-learned exercises.
  • Contribute to drafting briefs, success stories, and summaries of evaluation findings.

 

Accountability & Feedback Mechanisms:

  • Support the setup and maintenance of complaints and feedback mechanisms (CFM).
  • Ensure all feedback is logged, categorized, and referred to the responsible staff according to CFM SOPs.
  • Follow up on feedback resolution and ensure timely response to beneficiaries.
  • Help raise awareness among communities on available accountability channels.
  • Ensure confidentiality and respect of sensitive information at all times.

Capacity Building & Coordination:

  • Provide basic training to field teams on data collection tools and MEAL standards.
  • Coordinate with program teams to ensure MEAL activities are aligned with project timelines.
  • Participate in internal MEAL and program coordination meetings.
  • Support MEAL Manager in organizing capacity-building sessions for MEAL and program staff.

Reporting & Compliance:

  • Prepare regular MEAL summaries, monitoring reports, and data updates for internal use.
  • Ensure donor-required indicators and disaggregation are correctly captured and reported.
  • Support the preparation of MEAL sections in donor reports.
  • Ensure proper documentation and archiving of MEAL tools, raw data, and reports.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, International Development, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree such as MBA or PMP.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience in MEAL or M&E roles within NGOs.
  • Basic to strong skills in data tools such as Excel, Kobo, and Power BI (preferred).
  • Solid understanding of MEAL concepts and methodologies (quantitative & qualitative).
  • Strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic and good proficiency in English.
  • Ability to conduct field visits as required.
