Construction Site Supervisor- WAM Project

Principal Responsibilities

Project Planning

  1. Manage day to day relations with contractors to ensure high quality construction activities.
  2. Carry out continual quality assurance of the building contractors during the construction phase to ensure that the construction is of an acceptable standard to MAG and the relevant Lebanese authorities.
  3. Ensure that the performance dates specified in the agreed construction plan are being achieved by contractors.
  4. Ensure that acceptable photographs are taken of the facility and surrounding location prior to construction, during construction and after construction.
  5. Direct and supervise day to day operations of sub-contractors ensuring appliance of common operational procedures.
  6. Ensure all work is completed to programme.
  7. Under the direction of the construction manager, the construction site supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations on Habitat’s various construction sites which consist of new construction projects, and rehabilitations projects.
  8. Monitoring performance of sub-contractors and staff.
  9. Produce statements of works achieved, giving right to payment as per MAG standard tools and procedures. 

Essential Requirements

  • Experience of using relevant civil engineering software (AutoCAD minimum).
  • Substantial knowledge of the development and evaluation of civil engineering design and construction contracts, bills of quantities, and specifications.
  • A degree and/or post graduate qualification in civil engineering (B. Sc Minimum).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction engineering field and design.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to coordinate activities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of coordinating the activities of a multidisciplinary team including contractors and technical staff from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Experience of developing and using logistics and finance policies, procedures and tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people from different backgrounds.
  • Able to multitask and manage a heavy and varied workload.
  • Honest and trustworthy, with highest ethics standards
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Proficient in verbal and written communications in English Language.

GENERAL

All MAG staff is expected to undertake the following general duties:

  • Work as part of a team and liaise with other departments to ensure effective communications across the organization.

  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required.
  • Aware of gender mainstreaming and ready to participate in gender awareness courses/training
  • Able to work in a mixed team
  • Undertake and apply learning from appropriate training and development programmes.
  • Understand and uphold the standards outlined in MAG’s Safeguarding Framework, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the wellbeing of anyone that comes into contact with MAG’s work and reporting concerns if they do arise.

The ideal candidate will hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in Civil Engineering and possess proven experience in managing multi-site construction projects, with a strong focus on quality management and control processes. They should have hands-on experience in tendering, working with third-party contractors, and ensuring high-quality project delivery. The role also requires familiarity with financial, administrative, logistics, and human resource systems that contribute to project success, as well as proficiency in relevant civil engineering software. A solid understanding of developing and evaluating engineering designs, construction contracts, bills of quantities, and technical specifications is essential.
