Project Context

This position supports a 12-month community-based health and nutrition project implemented by ADJI and funded by the Lebanon Humanitarian Fund (LHF/OCHA – CBPF).
The project is delivered in coordination with Alaaransa/ Primary Health Care Center (PHCC) and aims to improve access to essential primary health care, nutrition, mental health, and preventive services for vulnerable populations in Wadi Khaled.

Position Information

Location: Wadi Khaled (must be resident in or very familiar with the area)

Duration: Project-based (up to 10–12 months, subject to project needs)

Reporting To: ADJI Social Worker / Outreach Supervisor

Compensation:

USD 15 per day ( 10 days fixed)

Provided only to cover transportation and communication costs

This amount does not constitute a salary, wage, or employment benefit

Purpose of the Role

The Community Health Worker supports the project by facilitating outreach, community awareness, and referral of vulnerable individuals to Alaaransa/ PHCC services.
CHWs act as a bridge between the community and the health facility, helping ensure that eligible individuals are informed, referred, and supported to access care.

Key Responsibilities
1. Community Outreach & Awareness

Conduct door-to-door and small-group outreach activities within assigned areas of Wadi Khaled.

Share accurate information on available PHCC services, including:

Primary health care consultations

Maternal and child health services

Nutrition screening and counselling

Mental health and psychosocial support

Vaccination and preventive services

Use approved key messages and referral criteria provided by ADJI.

2. Identification & Referral of Beneficiaries

Identify vulnerable individuals and households according to project criteria.

Refer eligible individuals to Alaaransa/ PHCC using approved referral tools.

Encourage attendance at scheduled PHCC appointments.

Follow up on referred cases to confirm service uptake when requested.

3. Coordination with ADJI & PHCC Teams

Coordinate closely with ADJI social workers and outreach supervisors.

Participate in brief orientation or coordination meetings when requested.

Share feedback from the community regarding access barriers or service gaps.

4. Basic Documentation & Reporting

Maintain simple referral and outreach logs as instructed.

Submit referral lists or attendance confirmations to the supervising ADJI staff.

Respect data confidentiality and avoid sharing personal information informally.

5. Ethics, Conduct & Safeguarding

Treat all community members with respect, neutrality, and dignity.

Follow ADJI’s Code of Conduct and zero-tolerance policy on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA).

Do not collect money, promises, or favors from beneficiaries.

Immediately report any safeguarding or protection concern to ADJI staff.

Required Profile
Essential

Resident of Wadi Khaled or strong knowledge of the local community.

Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with community members.

Willingness to work as a volunteer for humanitarian purposes.

Availability for up to 10 days per month.

Preferred

Previous experience as a community volunteer, outreach worker, or social mobilizer.

Basic literacy (ability to complete simple referral or attendance forms).

Trusted and respected within the community.

Important Notes

This is a volunteer role, not formal employment.

The monthly USD 15 support is strictly for transportation and communication costs.

Participation does not create an employer–employee relationship with ADJI.

Continued engagement depends on adherence to conduct standards and project needs.

Safeguarding Statement

ADJI maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA). All CHWs must comply with safeguarding standards and report concerns immediately.
