Financial Literacy Trainer – Idea-Stage Startups (Youth)

1. Background

Farah Social Foundation is implementing a youth entrepreneurship support program targeting idea-stage startups in Beirut and West Bekaa. The program aims to strengthen young entrepreneurs’ understanding of financial basics needed to validate, manage, and sustain early-stage business ideas.

2. Objective of the Assignment

To design and deliver an interactive 5-hour financial literacy training that equips youth with essential financial skills to better plan, manage, and assess the viability of their startup ideas.

3. Scope of Work

The trainer will be responsible for:

Designing and delivering a 5-hour financial literacy session per group

Adapting content to idea-stage startups and youth audiences

Using practical, example-based and participatory methodologies

Supporting participants in understanding financial decision-making at early stages

4. Training Structure

Number of groups: 3 groups

Training duration: 5 hours per group

Total training hours: 15 hours

Target group: Youth with idea-stage startups

Locations: Beirut and West Bekaa

Training modality: In-person

5. Key Training Topics (Indicative)

The training should cover, at minimum:

Financial mindset for entrepreneurs

Basic financial terminology (costs, revenues, profit, cash flow)

Difference between personal and business finances

Startup budgeting and cost estimation

Pricing basics and break-even concepts

Simple cash flow planning

Common financial mistakes in early-stage startups

Introduction to financial planning for sustainability

6. Deliverables

The trainer is expected to deliver:

Training agenda and session plan

Training materials (slides, tools, exercises)

Pre and Post Test 

Delivery of 5 hours per group (15 hours total)

Attendance sheets per group

Short post-training summary report

7. Duration & Level of Effort

Total level of effort: 5 to 15 training hours

 

8. Coordination & Reporting

The trainer will coordinate with the Project Coordinator and MEAL officer and provide brief progress updates.

9. Qualifications & Experience

The trainer must have:

Background in finance, accounting, business, or entrepreneurship

Proven experience delivering financial literacy or entrepreneurship training

Experience working with youth and early-stage startups

Strong facilitation and communication skills

10. Payment Terms

Payment based on actual training hours delivered

Payment terms to be defined in the contract upon approval of deliverables

⚠️ Tax Compliance Note:
If the selected trainer does not have MOF registration, a tax deduction of 8.5% will be applied to the total contract value.

11. Ethical & Safeguarding Considerations

The trainer must adhere to the organization’s Code of Conduct and PSEA policies.
