1. Background
Farah Social Foundation is implementing a vocational training program aimed at equipping youth with market-relevant technical skills in solar photovoltaic (PV) systems installation. The program responds to growing demand for renewable energy technicians and leads to a MEHE-certified certificate upon successful completion.
2. Objective of the Assignment
To design and deliver a 150-hour vocational training on solar panel installation, enabling youth to safely install, operate, and maintain small- to medium-scale solar PV systems in compliance with national standards.
3. Scope of Work
The trainer will be responsible for:
Designing and delivering a 150-hour solar PV installation training
Ensuring compliance with MEHE vocational certification requirements
Delivering hands-on, practical-focused sessions
Applying safety, electrical, and installation standards
Using participatory and practice-based training methods
4. Training Structure
Total duration: 150 hours
Daily schedule: 5 hours per day
Target group: Youth from 15 to 25 years old
Training modality: In-person (theory + practical installations)
5. Key Training Topics (Indicative)
The training must include, at minimum:
Introduction to renewable energy and solar PV systems
Basics of electricity and electrical safety
Components of solar PV systems (panels, inverters, batteries, charge controllers)
Solar system types (on-grid, off-grid, hybrid)
Site assessment and system sizing basics
Mounting structures and panel installation
Electrical wiring, connections, and grounding
Battery installation and management
System testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Occupational health and safety (OHS) and risk prevention
Energy efficiency and basic customer awareness
6. Deliverables
The trainer is expected to deliver:
Detailed training curriculum and session plans
Training materials (presentations, manuals, practical guides)
Delivery of 150 hours of training
Pre- and post-training assessments
Attendance sheets and practical evaluation checklists
Final training completion report
Documentation required for MEHE certification
7. Duration & Level of Effort
Total level of effort: 150 training hours
8. Coordination & Reporting
The trainer will report to the Project Manager and coordinate closely with the Technical and MEAL teams. Progress updates and compliance with training standards will be required.
9. Qualifications & Experience
The trainer must have:
Technical degree or certification in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field
Minimum 5 years of practical experience in solar PV installation
Proven experience delivering vocational or technical training
Strong hands-on installation and troubleshooting experience
Knowledge of MEHE vocational standards (asset)
Experience working with youth and vulnerable groups (asset)
10. Payment Terms
Payment based on actual training hours delivered
Payments released upon submission and approval of deliverables
⚠️ Tax Compliance Note:
In case the selected trainer does not have an MOF registration, a tax deduction of 8.5% will be applied to the total contract value, in accordance with applicable regulations.
11. Ethical, Safety & Safeguarding Requirements
The trainer must comply with the organization’s Code of Conduct and PSEA, at all times.
