Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international medical humanitarian organization created by doctors and journalists in 1971. Today, MSF provides independent, impartial assistance in more than 60 countries to people whose survival is threatened by violence, neglect, or catastrophe, primarily due to armed conflict, epidemics, malnutrition, and exclusion from health care or natural disasters. MSF in Lebanon currently has 2 projects mainly on primary health care and mental health, in Nabatiyeh and the Bekaa valley.

Scope of responsibility: MSF
To strengthen pediatric care within PHCCs and MSF-supported clinics through structured training, on-the-job mentorship, and quality supervision of pediatric case management, ensuring alignment with MSF and MoPH standards and continuity of care for children with acute and chronic conditions..
Specific Accountabilities
- Provide theoretical and practical training sessions for PHCC clinicians (doctors, nurses, midwives) on pediatric care, including nutritional screening, vaccination, growth monitoring, and management of common childhood illnesses.
- Conduct bedside and joint consultations to reinforce clinical skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of pediatric conditions.
- Identify individual and institutional learning needs at each PHCC and tailor training plans accordingly.
- Develop or adapt pediatric training materials, supervision checklists, and clinical case discussion tools.
- Foster a supportive mentorship environment that encourages clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and adherence to evidence-based practice.
Clinical Supervision and Quality of Care
- Supervise pediatric case management in PHCCs, ensuring compliance with MoPH protocols.
- Review complex or severe cases and support referral decisions in coordination with PHCC teams and MSF clinicians.
- Conduct quality reviews, medical record audits, and clinical feedback sessions.
- Support rational use of pediatric medications and monitor adherence to essential drug lists.
- Participate in regular coordination and debrief meetings to discuss training progress, clinical challenges, and upcoming activities.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Contribute to the collection and analysis of pediatric indicators, training attendance, and performance outcomes.
- Participate in supervision visits and provide feedback on clinical practices, resource needs, and training impact.
- Support the MAM in preparing reports on progress, challenges, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Health Promotion and Caregiver Education
- Collaborate with HP teams to strengthen health education for caregivers on topics such as nutrition, vaccination, hygiene, and child development.
- Promote patient-centered communication within PHCCs and support integration of HP activities into routine pediatric consultations.
Requirements
Education
- Essential: Diploma of Medicine from a recognized university
- Essential: Ministry of public health practice license as doctor in Lebanon
- Essential: Certificate of registration at the Lebanese order of physicians-LOP
- Desirable: Pediatric Residency completion
Experience
- Essential: Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in a pediatric settings.
- Essential: Proven experience in training, mentorship, or supervision of healthcare professionals (nurses, doctors, or PHCC staff).
- Desirable: Prior participation in Trainer of Trainers (ToT) programs or structured ca-pacity-building initiatives is highly desirable.
- Desirable: Experience in NGO or PHCC settings and familiarity with MoPH protocols is an advantage.
Languages
- Essential: Full professional proficiency using the Arabic language.
- Essential: Limited to full professional proficiency using the English language.
- Desirable: Elementary to limited professional proficiency using the French Language.
Knowledge
- Essential: Basic to Intermediate computer literacy using MS-office applications (MS-Word, MS-Outlook, MS-Excel).
