Project Background:
The René Moawad Foundation is currently implementing the “Strengthening Rural Development in Lebanon” project funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). The project’s main aim is to create a new, more equitable and resilient production system in the apple value chain both at the individual level (small-scale agricultural producers) and collectively (through cooperatives).
RMF is seeking a qualified expert to deliver comprehensive training on cooperative management to strengthen governance, financial sustainability, and operational efficiency within 2 cooperatives on the project.
Objectives:
- Enhance cooperative members’ knowledge of governance structures and best practices
- Develop financial management skills, including budgeting and resource allocation
- Improve leadership and decision-making capabilities within cooperative frameworks
- Strengthen marketing and business development strategies for cooperative growth
- Promote sustainable and ethical practices in cooperative operations
Scope of Work:
The selected expert will:
- Conduct needs assessment for the two selected cooperatives to tailor training content
- Design and deliver interactive training sessions on cooperative management
- Provide case studies and practical exercises for real-world application
- Offer guidance on legal and regulatory compliance for cooperatives
- Develop comprehensive training materials and evaluation tools
Deliverables:
- Needs Assessment Report - Analysis of cooperatives requirements and training gaps
- Training Modules - Comprehensive materials covering governance, finance, leadership, and marketing
- Workshop Sessions - Interactive training sessions with practical applications (minimum 6 sessions per cooperative)
- Assessment Reports - Pre- and post-training evaluations to measure impact
- Follow-up Recommendations - Actionable recommendations for continued cooperative development
All deliverables to be submitted to the Project Manager in digital format.
Qualifications & Requirements:
1- Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Social Development, or Cooperative Management
- Minimum 5 years of proven experience in training cooperatives and cooperative law
- Experience with NGOs or social enterprises
- Demonstrated expertise in conducting workshops and interactive training sessions
2- Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in cooperative governance, financial management, or sustainability
- Portfolio of successful cooperative management projects
- Experience in rural tourism or economic development projects
- Arabic and English language proficiency
