Speech Therapist

General Goal: The Speech Therapist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and providing speech and language therapy services to students with communication, speech, language, voice, fluency, and related developmental difficulties. The role supports inclusive education practices and contributes to students’ academic achievement, social integration, and emotional well-being in line with child protection and safeguarding standards.

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct comprehensive speech, language, communication, and related developmental assessments using standardized and informal tools.
  • Analyze assessment results and identify students’ strengths, needs, and areas requiring intervention.
  • Prepare clear assessment reports with recommendations and share them with relevant stakeholders.
  • Design, implement, and regularly review Individualized Therapy Plans (ITPs) aligned with students’ educational goals.
  • Address a range of difficulties including articulation, phonological disorders, receptive and expressive language delays, fluency disorders, voice disorders, and pragmatic/social communication skills.
  • Support students with learning difficulties, developmental delays, and disabilities impacting communication.
  • Contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in coordination with the Inclusion team.
  • Advise teachers on classroom accommodations and differentiated strategies to support students’ communication needs.
  • Promote inclusive practices that enable students with speech and language difficulties to actively participate in learning.
  • Work closely with Inclusion, PSS, Child Protection, and school management teams to ensure coordinated support for students.
  • Provide counseling, guidance, and practical strategies to parents/caregivers to support students’ communication development at home.
  • Conduct parent meetings to discuss assessment results, therapy plans, and progress updates.
  • Monitor and document students’ progress through regular evaluations and session notes.

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Personal Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree in Speech Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, or a related field (Master’s degree is an asset).
  • Valid professional license or accreditation to practice (where applicable in Lebanon).
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience working with children, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Experience working with children with disabilities and vulnerable populations is highly desirable.
  • Strong clinical assessment and intervention skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized therapy plans.
  • Excellent communication, counseling, and report-writing skills.
  • Strong teamwork and coordination abilities within multidisciplinary settings.
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
  • Good time management, organization, and documentation skills.
