Syrian Arab Republic: Emergency Mobility Tracking Situation Report - Aleppo/North East Syria (NES) Conflict, Round 7 (25 January 2026)

As of 25 January, deteriorations in the security situation reported in North-East Syria (NES) has increased displacement across the region. Violations of the ceasefire agreement were reported in Al-Hasakeh, heightening concerns of potential clashes between the Government of Syria and the Syrian Democratic forces (SDF). Consequently, large scale displacement was observed from the locations of active hostilities within the governorate and neighbouring Ar-Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor Governorates towards relatively safer areas. Within the past week, the number of IDPs residing in Al-Hasakeh has increased to 146,301 individuals from 5,725 recorded on 18 January, with IDPs primarily residing in collective centres. IDPs in NES are in urgent need of multi-purpose cash assistance, non-food items (94% each), food (63%), and health care services including the supply of essential medicines (44%).

In parallel, in Aleppo the ceasefire agreement between the Government and the SDF announced on 18 January continues to hold. The reduction in active hostilities has enabled continued returns, resulting in the return of an estimated 81 per cent of individuals displaced at the onset of the hostilities in Aleppo (138,053 on 9 January). IDPs in Aleppo are primarily in need of multi-purpose cash assistance (85%), non-food items including mattresses, cooking utensils, blankets (85%), alongside food (82%), and shelter (14%).
