Country IT & IM Assistant

The Country IT & IM Assistant at JRS Lebanon is responsible for developing, maintaining, and strengthening information and technology systems across the country and project offices. The Assistant will lead efforts to enhance data management, IT infrastructure, and digital capacity in support of JRS Lebanon’s mission and programming. S/he will play a central role in ensuring effective data collection, reporting, analysis, and IT support services to facilitate strategic decision-making, accountability, and operational efficiency.

Main Responsibilities of the Position:

1. Information Management Strategy, Tools & Support

  • Develop and maintain an information management strategy aligned with country needs and global standards, in coordination with the MEAL and Programs departments.
  • Design and manage systems for efficient data entry, storage, quality control, and visualization.
  • Develop, adapt, and support monitoring tools that ensure accurate tracking of program activities.
  • Extract and analyze relevant data for quarterly, six-month, and annual reporting, in coordination with the MEAL department.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making and reflective practice.
  • Collaborate with country- and field-level staff to identify and address information management gaps.

2. IT Infrastructure & Systems Oversight

  • Ensure the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of IT hardware and software at the Country Office and field locations.
  • Install, configure, and update servers, networks, and security systems.
  • Act as the focal point for IT support across all JRS Lebanon offices, providing timely assistance and advice.
  • Manage scheduled upgrades, backup systems, data recovery protocols, and cybersecurity measures.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets and track usage, loss, or damage.

3. Capacity Building and Training

  • Train JRS Lebanon staff on the use of software (e.g., Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.).
  • Organize workshops and training sessions on new information management and IT tools, including the responsible use of artificial Intelligence in the workplace.
  • Visit field offices to assess data processes and IT needs and develop improvement plans.

4. Procurement & Asset Management

  • Lead the procurement process for IT equipment in line with JRS procurement policies.
  • Recommend methods to enhance service quality, cost-effectiveness, and speed of delivery.
  • Maintain a trusted database of IT vendors and suppliers.
  • Ensure timely delivery and installation of IT equipment and software.

5. Coordination and Collaboration

  • Coordinate closely with the Country Head of Operational Support and other key staff on strategic data and IT issues.
  • Work with the Regional and International Offices on the rollout of new systems or software.
  • Consult with other countries’ IT/IM teams to exchange practices and solutions.
  • Coordinate with the Country Procurement & Logistics Assistant on IT procurement and vendor management.
  • Keep up to date on relevant technological advancements and recommend updates accordingly.

6. Other Duties

Undertake any other responsibilities as assigned by the Country Head of Operational Support that fall within the scope of this role.

Qualifications , Skills , and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Management, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • At least 1 year of experience in IT systems management and information management in an NGO or similar setting.
  • Proven skills in programming, data analysis, statistics, and data visualization.
  • Experience with information management tools and database management.
  • Proficiency in SharePoint, OneDrive, and other collaborative tools.
  • Proficiency in network management, server setup, and IT security protocols.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team.
  • Ability to travel regularly to JRS project sites across Lebanon for technical support.
