About the position:

The School Kitchen Coordinator plays a key role on a day to day basis in ensuring effective implementation of school feeding program, is responsible for on-site support to the volunteer kitchen teams, receiving the food items from the suppliers on a daily basis and monitoring the food safety. 

Key roles and responsibilities:

Monitoring the delivery daily usage of food products and proper storage of supplies and equipment in the main kitchen.

Meeting and following with school directors and MEHE representatives when needed to coordinate and get their feedback and ensure a perfect delivery of the program

Collecting both quantitate and qualitative data to report on project performance.

Meeting with parents to introduce the program and to assess its impact

Recruit and train the volunteer kitchen teams and following up on a daily base to guarantee producing and delivering quality food on time, providing guidance to volunteer’s program in order to promote effective support and sustainability of the program

Schedule work shifts and tasks for the volunteers

Capacitate and support the volunteers to accomplish their tasks in the kitchen

Ordering the exact quantities needed to avoid any food waste and to guarantee freshness of food served to children

Regular check-ups on a daily basis regarding food safety and hygiene

Controlling the inventory for food and non-food items

Oversee the food preparation and distribution process

Maintain daily reports to the project officer

Producing and compiling weekly, monthly and end of terms reports

Initiating, implementing and managing capacity building needed for the volunteers

Collecting program data for management and operational decisions. (Enrolment, Attendance, Inventories)

Communicating with other key departments: logistics, communication, finance and administration when needed

Ensuring that organization assets and equipment are taken care of

Participate in relevant meetings with NGOs and UN Agencies

Sharing photos of food preparation, and food distribution and photos of children in the school with communication departments

Interviewing children and sharing success stories about the program with communication department

Controlling the quality of food purchased and prepared, to avoid any food contamination

Purchasing the needed food supplies and other needed products and equipment taking into consideration the program’s budget.

Conducting awareness session for children in classroom about healthy eating and hygiene

To stay updated in case any changes are being noticed in the field, especially relating to the fluctuating current situation.

Facilitating inventory and leftover management in schools.

Filling a meals production tracking sheet on daily basis.

Tracking the pricing of commodities.

Monitoring the unit cost per meal.

Weekly and monthly reporting.

Required knowledge and experience: 

B.S. in Nutrition, food safety, food science or food technology: M.S. is an advantage. 

Able to start immediately.

Ability to work well in a stressful and fast-paced environment

General knowledge of kitchen health and safety regulations

Excellent problem-solving and conflict management abilities

Talent in negotiations

Aptitude in decision-making and working with numbers
