Enumerator for TeamUp Quality of Care predictor study (12 vacancies)

General Objective of the Job:
The enumerator will support the successful implementation of research activities for the TeamUp Quality of Care predictor study in Lebanon, with a particular focus on data collection, documentation, and ensure abiding to ethical standards across the research cycle in compliance with War Child policies.

TeamUp Quality of Care predictor Study

TeamUp is an evidence-based methodology developed by War Child, UNICEF and Save the Children and is a movement-based mental health promotion intervention for children between 6-15 years old. In this TeamUp Quality of Care (QoC) predictor study we want to assess if the three Quality of Care (QoC) indicators, (i.e. facilitator competency, implementation fidelity and attendance of children) can predict psychosocial outcomes for children participating in the TeamUp intervention. The TeamUp intervention consists of a movement-based, non-verbal approach including group games, sports, dance, routines, movement and body awareness exercises.

Position in the Organization:
Enumerators will work based on a volunteer contract.

They are critical members of the research team; core tasks include obtaining consent/assent, conducting observations, collecting quantitative and qualitative data, and preparing datasets/transcripts for analysis. The enumerators receive pre-project training on study procedures, ethics and safeguarding, and on-the-job mentoring from the Research Coordinator and other relevant staff. The enumerator reports to the Research Coordinator of the Research and Development department.

Detailed job description/Results Areas:

  • Data Collection
    • Conduct field visits to community centers where TeamUp is implemented to collect relevant data and information.
    • Administer quantitative assessments, using a standardized set of question, and/or conducting Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and Focus Group discussions (FGDs).
    • Ensure systematic collection of voluntary, informed consent and assent
    • Share updates with the Research Coordinator on activities, trends, highlights, and challenges for internal reporting.
    • Report on child protection concerns to the Child Protection focal point and ensure appropriate action is taken.

 

  • Support data processing, transcription, documentation and reporting 
    • Documentation of field reports, on data collection. Reflect in the notes taken a high level of objectivity and professionalism that portrays the real situation on the participants without possible impact of personal prejudgments or opinions.  
    • Audio-record and take field notes (when consented); ensure safe storage of recordings.
    • Transcribe and translate accurately and prepare clean transcripts Provide regular updates to the Research Coordinator.

 

  • Participation in Trainings, adherence to ethical standards, and flexibility
    • Maintain full adherence to ethical standards and child safeguarding policies.
    • Attend and participate in the full enumerator training and refresher training, to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to carry out the data collection. 
    • Work within a team and have a professional and ethical attitude towards all involved.  
    • Use feedback provided by supervisors to improve practice. 
    • Attend and participate in reflection meetings when needed. 
    • Flexibility to travel within Lebanon for this work.
    • When needed, having the possibility to work during non-office hours. 

 

  • Modality of Work / Coordination and Office Presence
  • Enumerators will mainly conduct field work in their assigned areas (North or South Lebanon) and will not be required to come to War Child offices on a daily basis.
  • Coordination will occur with the Project Coordinator/Research Coordinator on a daily basis virtually, using WhatsApp and/or Microsoft Teams. The timing of coordination will mainly concentrate in the mornings and after field work within the day has finished. These meetings and coordination steps are a must.
  • Enumerators will only need to be present at War Child offices for two scenarios: (1) trainings, and (2) transcription and translation. If the project requires an additional day to be within the office, this will be discussed only when necessary.
  • During field work, enumerators will be provided with tablets, and in the case of qualitative data collection, with voice recorders. These devices will be utilized only for data collection and will be returned to War Child when the data collection phases are finalized.
  • During transcription/translation phases at the office, enumerators will be provided with a War Child laptop for that activity.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, Social Sciences, Public Health, Psychology, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of previous experience in research or monitoring and evaluation 
  • Skilled in surveys, interviews, FGDs; able to transcribe and produce clean notes.
  • Experience in field data collection using tablet-based platforms (Kobo/ODK/CommCare).
  • Experience working with children (teaching, tutoring, scouts, summer camps, or any other relevant activities) is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in integrated education projects, Education in Emergencies, child protection, or psychosocial support is preferred.
