Child Rights Governance Volunteer - Beirut, Saida, and Mount Lebanon

Securing children's rights is the foundation of our work. Millions of children around the world are denied their rights, simply because of who they are or where they are from. We know that to ensure every child has the chance for a future their rights must be upheld.

Through our programming, emergency responses and advocacy, we put the most vulnerable children first, tackling the barriers to survival, learning and protection.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Child Rights Governance officers in the implementation of child rights and child participation activities.
  • Deliver sessions on child rights, child participation, and community awareness to children, youth and caregivers.
  • Support in organizing and facilitating child and youth group meetings, consultations, and participatory activities.
  • Conduct outreach to engage children in child rights governance sessions.
  • Fill out tools related to activities with participants and beneficiaries.
  • Support children and youth in expressing their views through participatory methods such as discussions and consultations.
  • Participate in the organization and facilitation of community events, campaigns, and special days related to child rights and child participation.
  • Collect information about participants attending sessions and activities and support in maintaining databases and documentation.
  • Identify child protection concerns or risks affecting children and report them to supervisors for referrals.
  • Attend trainings, coordination meetings, and regular team meetings.
  • Additional Responsibilities During Emergency Response.

During emergency response, CRG volunteers may:

  • Support in awareness activities related to child rights, child participation, and available services for children and caregivers.
  • Assist in facilitating child and youth consultations to ensure children’s voices are included in emergency response planning and community feedback mechanisms.
  • Support in distribution of emergency kits.
  • Support basic attendance tracking, feedback collection, and activity reporting.
  • Immediately report any child protection concerns or children at risk to supervisors following referral procedures.
  • Attend required trainings and inductions.

In order to be successful you will bring/have: 

  • University graduate in social work/ law/ Political sciences/ international Development and Sociology studies
  • Previous experience in the humanitarian sector/with NGOs
  • Previous experience in facilitating awareness sessions and working with children
  • Excellent knowledge on child rights and child participation
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Intermediate level of written and spoken English
