- The midwife will identify and refer UTIs cases to the PSU or PHCC for treatment.
- If a safe space is available and/or confidentiality guaranteed, she will also flag and refer STIs cases and will provide emergency contraception and offer adapted counselling as needed.
- To ensure a regular follow-up and counselling for pregnant women.
- ANC/ PNC consultations: Provision of basic antenatal care services for pregnant women (excluding medical examination and ultrasound) and the provision of basic post-natal care services including educating patients on breastfeeding, vaccination, hygiene and others.
- To facilitate the timely referral of pregnant women to PHCC for the necessary 4 ANC and 2 PNC consultations and support IYCF.
- Nutrition: Includes growth monitoring, education and screening for malnutrition, treatment with a specific focus on pregnant and lactating women and children under five. Monitoring of the nutrition status of the vulnerable population is integral in preventing malnutrition especially in times of conflict and mass displacement of populations to shelters and crowded places.
- To reinforce GBV-specific information and equip individuals with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their safety.
- To provide general mental health awareness on normal reactions to stress, on general self-care practices during the crisis, and on the safe referral of people in need of more specialized care.
- To facilitate culturally sensitive group sessions on SRH for women and girls, covering topics such as family planning, reproductive health, STI prevention and management, and communication in relationships to strengthen awareness on SRH self-care practices and services beyond pregnancy-related care distribution of SRH-related materials like emergency contraception and condoms
- To provide health awareness, including SRH, active nutrition screening, vaccination and communicable diseases surveillance.
- To support safe referral to appropriate specialized care.
- To provide PFA to link displaced people with the service they need and provide supportive and practical assistance to distressed people in a respectful way.
- To identify and analyze barriers for access to appropriate specialized care and collaborate with MdM specialized staff to pilot strategies to overcome these barriers, considering cultural sensitivity and context.
- To report on consultations, services and data collected
- Participate in need of assessments in collaboration with the MEAL department to track evolving needs.
Qualifications and requirements
- Midwife with 2 to 3 years of experience with an NGO or INGO
- Strong experience related to primary health care (PHCC/PSU), maternal and child health, reproductive health
- Excellent interpersonal skills: maintain a transparent, honest and supportive communication structure within a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft word and excel
- Knowledge of PHENICS and MERA
- Arabic and English languages are mandatory
