CBPSS Facilitator – Recreational Activities (Emergency Response)

Al Midan NGO is seeking to recruit CBPSS Facilitators – Recreational Activities to support the implementation of emergency interventions in shelters across Zgharta District and Minieh.

In response to the ongoing crisis, Al Midan is delivering child protection and psychosocial support services within shelters hosting displaced populations. Through safe, inclusive, and structured activities, the intervention aims to enhance children’s wellbeing, resilience, and social cohesion.

The CBPSS Facilitators will be responsible for implementing community-based psychosocial support (CBPSS) and recreational activities for children and youth, ensuring a safe and engaging environment that promotes emotional wellbeing, protection, and positive coping mechanisms.

Major Responsibilities:

CBPSS & Recreational Activities Implementation

• Plan and facilitate structured CBPSS sessions for children and adolescents in shelters
• Deliver recreational and psychosocial activities (games, sports, arts, group exercises) tailored to different age groups
• Ensure activities are inclusive, safe, and adapted to the emergency context
• Promote positive coping mechanisms, emotional expression, and social interaction among children

Child Protection & Safeguarding

• Ensure all activities are implemented in line with Child Protection minimum standards
• Identify and report children at risk and refer cases through appropriate channels
• Maintain a safe and supportive environment for all participants
• Apply PSEA principles and Code of Conduct at all times

Community Engagement & Coordination

• Engage with children, caregivers, and community members to encourage participation
• Coordinate with shelter management and field teams for smooth implementation
• Support youth engagement and participation in activities

Activity Planning & Reporting

• Prepare weekly activity plans in coordination with supervisors
• Track attendance and participation of children and youth
• Document activities through reports, photos, and feedback
• Provide regular updates on challenges, needs, and achievements

Teamwork & Support

• Work closely with social workers, case workers, and other facilitators
• Support volunteers during activities when needed
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment

Professional Standards:

All Al Midan staff are required to adhere to organizational policies related to child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, and ethical conduct, ensuring accountability and respect for beneficiaries at all times.

Job Requirements:

• Degree or background in social work, psychology, education, or related field
• Previous experience in working with children and youth, preferably in emergency or humanitarian settings
• Experience in facilitating psychosocial or recreational activities
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in challenging environments and with vulnerable populations
• Good understanding of child protection principles
• Familiarity with the targeted areas (Zgharta, Minieh) is an asset
• Fluency in Arabic; basic English is an asset

Additional Notes:

• Candidates should be available for field work in shelters
• Flexibility and commitment are essential due to the emergency nature of the intervention
• Training on CBPSS and safeguarding will be provided
