Job Purpose
- Under the supervision of the Senior Security Officer and the Country Director, the Security & Safety Assistant will be responsible for providing field-based security expertise, assist in updating security-related documents and maps, managing movement authorizations and maintaining compliance with security protocols.
- The role also supports the Senior Security Officer in reporting and compliance efforts, training and mission support.
- Provide on-site safety support during field activities
Accompany field teams during missions and support the implementation of safety measures at activity sites, including basic crowd control, access management, and coordination to maintain a safe working environment.
- Support safe movement management and field operations
Assist in coordinating staff movements and tracking field activities to ensure operations are conducted safely and in line with established security procedures and authorization requirements.
- Maintain security-related documentation and mapping tools
Support the preparation, updating, and proper filing of security documents, movement records, and maps to facilitate planning, reporting, and operational decision-making
- Contribute to compliance with safety and security procedures
Assist in ensuring that staff follow organizational security rules and movement protocols, and report incidents or non-compliance when identified.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1) Movement management and field support
- Assist in planning and coordinating field movements in line with security procedures.
- Prepare and update movement tracking tools and movement maps.
- Monitor field movements and ensure compliance with communication and reporting protocols.
- Support teams during field missions when required.
- Report any security concerns or incidents to the Security Manager immediately.
2) Security and risk management
- Identify and report safety and security risks affecting field operations.
- Support basic risk assessments for movements and operational locations under supervision.
- Monitor the local security environment and flag significant changes or emerging threats.
- Promote safe practices and awareness of risks during field activities.
3) Reporting and compliances
- Assist in documenting security incidents and maintaining incident records.
- Support the preparation of routine security updates and reports.
- Ensure staff comply with security rules, movement procedures, and safety measures.
- Support the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contingency measures.
4) Security and Safety support
- Participate in safety briefings and ensure staff are aware of basic security procedures.
- Support headcounts and accountability checks during incidents or emergencies.
- Assist in monitoring the security situation and sharing relevant information with the Security Manager.
5) Mapping and information management
- Support the preparation and regular updating of security and movement maps.
- Collect and maintain basic geographic and access-related information for operational planning.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records related to movements, incidents, and access constraints.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- 1-2 years of experience in security, safety, logistics, operations, or a related field in an NGO.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Good knowledge of the geography of Lebanon.
- Basic mapping and navigation skills (google maps).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to changing situations.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
- Fluency in Arabic, working knowledge of English required.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel and Word).
Due to the current emergency setting, the assistant may be required to work beyond regular hours as needed.
