Overall project summary & background
In response to the growing socioeconomic challenges and conflict dynamics in Lebanon, this project adopts the Multi-Stakeholder Local Development (MSLD) approach to enhance social stability and promote inclusive local development across three targeted neighborhoods. The initiative is implemented by NAHNOO in collaboration with UNDP and focuses on empowering local communities to actively participate in identifying challenges, analyzing conflict dynamics, and designing sustainable, community-driven solutions.
The project supports communities in developing Stability and Local Development Plans (SLDPs) that address root causes of conflict across key sectors such as economic development, basic services, education, health, and social cohesion. These plans are designed through collaborative workshops and consultations to ensure relevance, inclusiveness, and alignment with local priorities.
Simultaneously, the project focuses on the formation and capacity-building of local committees, strengthening their ability to lead development efforts through training, coaching, and institutional support. Finally, the project moves into the implementation phase, where selected community-based initiatives and “soft” interventions are carried out, alongside continuous mentoring and support to ensure sustainability, resilience, and long-term impact.
