Interactive Theater Trainer

1. Background
The Lebanese Democratic Women’s Gathering works to promote gender equality and protect women and girls from gender-based violence (GBV).
Interactive theater is a participatory approach that allows individuals to express experiences, challenge social norms, and engage communities in dialogue. It is a powerful tool for amplifying survivors’ voices, fostering empathy, and promoting behavioral and social change while ensuring a survivor-centered and do-no-harm approach.
This vocational training aims to equip women with interactive theater skills for advocacy, awareness, and personal empowerment.

2. Objective
To empower women with interactive theater skills to safely amplify survivors’ voices, foster empathy, and contribute to advocacy and awareness on GBV and protection issues.

3. Specific Objectives
- Develop participants’ acting, expression, and performance skills
- Strengthen understanding of using theater as a tool for advocacy
- Promote survivor-centered, trauma-informed, and do-no-harm approaches
- Enable women to address GBV and social issues through participatory theater

4. Scope of Work
The trainer/service provider will:
- Design and deliver an interactive theater training program
- Integrate GBV guiding principles and safeguarding standards throughout the training
- Facilitate practical exercises (role play, improvisation, forum theater)
- Support participants in developing short performances addressing social issues
- Conduct pre- and post-assessments
- Submit a final training report

5. Training Components (6 Sessions)

Session 1: Introduction to Interactive Theater

Session 2: Physical and Vocal Expressions: Techniques of expression, movement, and voice use.

Session 3: Theatre for change: using theatre to address social issues such as gender-based violence

Session 4: Interactive theatre (Forum Theater): engaging the audience in proposing solutions and interacting with the issues presented

Session 5: Performance Development: preparing theatrical scenes that reflect real-life issues

6. Duration & Modality
- 6 sessions per group
- 15 female participants per group (aged 15–59)
- Locations: Beirut & Mount Lebanon (BML) and Bekaa
- Modality: In-person

7. Target Group
- Women aged 15–59
- Priority: vulnerable women and survivors of GBV
- Focus on empowerment and safe expression

8. Deliverables
- Training curriculum and materials
- Attendance sheets
- Pre- and post-assessments
- Participants’ theater performances
- Final narrative report

9. Required Qualifications
- Experience in theater, drama facilitation, or performing arts
- Proven experience in delivering training sessions
- Strong knowledge of GBV, safeguarding, and ethical communication
- Ability to work with sensitive survivor-related content
- Fluency in Arabic (English is an asset)

10. Monitoring & Evaluation
- Pre/post knowledge assessments
- Quality and relevance of performances
- Participant engagement and feedback
- Application of ethical and safe expression principles

11. Ethical Considerations
All activities must strictly follow:
- GBV guiding principles (safety, confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination)
- Survivor-centered and trauma-informed approaches
- UN Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women safeguarding and PSEA standards
- Internal policies of Lebanese Democratic Women’s Gathering

12. Reporting Line
The trainer will report to the RDFL Project Manager, in coordination with donor reporting requirements.

1. Required Documents:

  • MOF document

Kindly note that candidates who do not submit financial proposal per session will not be considered.

Only complete submissions received on time and fully compliant with the technical specifications and deliverables will be evaluated.

2. Submission Deadline:
