Accountabilities
- Supervising, supporting and evaluating the team under his/her responsibility particularly midwives, midwife assistants and other related staff in her team. Planning and organizing their work (areas, days, absences, visits, holidays, etc.) and coaching them in their work with special focus in following all appropriate protocols and procedures
- Ensuring teamwork and a professional relationship between SRH unit and other departments.
- Supervising the clinical activities in all the SRH departments and activities such as ante-natal consultations, post-natal consultations, family planning consultations, gynecological consultations, SGBV and CMR care, new-born vaccinations and liaising with the Gynecologist for any high risk cases.
- Ensuring that the staff on duty knows, implements and always follows the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control in the medical premises ensuring high standards of hygiene in the working environment
- Ensuring that all staff using medical devices are qualified and trained, cleaning and minor maintenance tasks are performed according to the protocols, reporting any malfunction to the project biomedical service.
- Being responsible for the department-related pharmacy activities (stock and consumption monitoring) as well as maintenance of the medical equipment
- Being responsible for ensuring that all the administrative procedures, patients’ data and documents are filled in correctly and registered for compiling monthly reports reflecting the activity in the department.
- In certain contexts, being responsible for ensuring that the maternity staff can identify, receive and provide care to the victims of the SGBV in collaboration with the Obst & Gynae MD and following the protocols
MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities
Medical activities and patient care at Hermel clinic:
- Planning and scheduling visits and implementing SRH services in her designated duty areas.
- Health surveillance to populations in the area through outreach midwife identifies mothers and children at risk and measures to reduce the risk, through HP team and support.
- Identify any referral of any cases identified during the visits that need specialized care, after linking with the MWAM for validation upon criteria.
- Supervise and monitor health education to mothers about personal hygiene, nutrition, child vaccine, birth spacing, family planning and nutrition status.
- Follow up and monitor the proper collection of Data for SRH, with Tally Sheets and weekly/monthly sheets.
A. At PHCC Level
- Supervise and support the midwives for the delivery of SRH services (ANC, PNC, FP, gynecological consultations) within PHCC
- Ensure adherence to MSF and MoPH clinical protocols, and standards of care and patient confidentiality.
- Conduct regular supervision visits, on-the-job coaching, and clinical mentoring for PHCC midwives.
- Monitor patient flow, data accuracy, and SRH reporting tools (registers, indicators, consultation forms).
- Ensure proper implementation of referral pathways for high-risk pregnancies and complicated deliveries.
- Collaborate with PHCC management and MSF teams to ensure effective coordination and problem-solving.
C. In MMU (Mobile Medical Unit) Activities
- Supervise SRH services within the MMU framework, ensuring availability of materials and medication, and adherence to standards.
- Ensure proper documentation, data collection, and reporting of SRH indicators from MMU teams.
- Support the MMU team in identifying and referring high-risk or complicated cases to PHCC or secondary level.
- Ensure the SRH SOPs and protocols are being followed, and proper use and prescription of medication.
D. Capacity Building and Team Support
- Provide technical supervision and coaching to all midwives under her supervision.
- Identify training needs and organize or facilitate trainings (on ANC, FP, SGBV, infection prevention, documentation, etc.).
- Conduct trainings and support for SV and CMR to medical and non-medical staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Ensure staff are familiar with and correctly apply updated MSF protocols, MoPH guidelines, and SOPs.
- Contribute to SRH strategy development, SOP validation, and operational planning for Bekaa project.
F. Logistics, Supply, and IPC
- Monitor stock levels of SRH-related medications and materials at all levels (PHCC, clinic, MMU) and weekly reporting to the manager for new restocking.
- Prepare and follow up on SRH supply requests in coordination with pharmacy and logistics.
- Ensure strict compliance with Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures and report any incidents.
- Follow up on equipment functionality and hygiene standards in consultation areas.
G. Community and Patient Engagement
- Promote a patient-centered approach respecting dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Support community sensitization campaigns (i.e. Breast Cancer Awareness, Family Planning and other.).
- Collaborate with community leaders and CHWs to strengthen trust and improve service accessibility.
- Collaborate with other health personnel in RH services.
Requirements
Education
Diploma of Midwife (or any Diploma recognized in the country and /or the Ministry of Health to practice as such)
Experience
Minimum 2 year experience as Midwife
Languages
Mission language essential
