Purpose and Scope of the Role
The Field Officer & Assistant Producer is the operational pillar of the Land is Women program. Reporting directly to the program Manager, this role bridges the creative, logistical and economic dimensions of the program across its two main components: the filmmaking phase, the three community events.
During the residency and production phase, the Field Officer & Assistant Producer works alongside the Senior Filmmaking Mentor and the Filmmaking Trainer & Editor, handling all practical and logistical needs that enable the creative team to focus on training and mentorship. During the Impact Tour, the role shifts to coordination and direct support facilitation, working closely with local partners and event organizers, beneficiary groups, and local organisations to ensure each event runs smoothly and that all beneficiaries have safe, supported access to program activities.
A key dimension of the role is also community outreach: in coordination with the program Manager and Communications Officer, the Field Officer actively contributes to identifying and reaching women in each target category (artisans, food producers, workshop participants, girls for video workshops, and environmental practitioners) across targeted areas.
This is a field-heavy role requiring significant mobility, strong organisational skills, and high familiarity with the communities (mainly women networks) and locations. The person in this role must be comfortable working in remote areas, adapting quickly to changing circumstances, and building trust with diverse community actors.
Key responsibilities
1. Residency and production logistics
Manage all practical arrangements for the 6 workshop days and 5 shooting days of the residency: venue booking, technical requirements on site, transport for participants, accommodation, catering, equipment sourcing and return.
Maintain and update the production schedule in coordination with the Senior Mentor and program Manager.
Coordinate participant access and mobility, including specific arrangements for displaced or refugee participants who may face transport constraints.
Manage equipment rentals (cameras, tripods, sound equipment, editing stations): prepare rental agreements, manage pickup and return, and maintain an equipment log throughout the production phase.
Ensure all shooting locations are scouted, legally accessible, and logistically viable before shooting days; obtain any required permissions.
Manage daily cash advances and field expenses, maintaining clear and compliant financial records for submission to the Program Manager.
Coordinate with the sound engineer during shooting days on scheduling and logistics.
Support the Program Manager in administering participant surveys and collecting attendance data during residency sessions.
2. Community outreach and beneficiary identification
In coordination with the program Manager, lead community outreach efforts to identify and reach women in each beneficiary category across Akkar, North Lebanon, and Hermel:
Young creatives (filmmakers, podcasters, journalists, theatre practitioners, and storytellers with minimal professional experience) and women actively engaged in environmental and community advocacy (activists, agricultural workers, mountain guides, foragers, researchers).
Artisans, food producers (mouneh, embroidery, handicrafts), community leaders in ecotourism and land care both displaced/refugee and from host communities
Women interested in the upcycling and clothing repair workshop
Girls aged 13–17 for creative workshops in coordination with local partners and stakeholders
Build and maintain relationships with local intermediaries, community leaders, women’s networks, and civil society organisations across the three regions to facilitate outreach and trust-building.
Maintain a clear database of selected beneficiaries per category, per location, sharing.
3. Community events coordination (3 events, one day each)
Take operational lead on the planning and execution of the three community event in Kobayat/Akkar, Tripoli, and Hermel (End of September/October–December 2026) in close coordination with the Program Manager
Serve as the logistics point of contact for local partners in Akkar, Tripoli, and Hermel.
For each event, manage all logistics end-to-end:
◦ Venue identification, booking, and setup (indoor/outdoor screening space, market area, workshop space)
◦ Equipment logistics: projection, sound system, seating, display tables, and workshop materials
◦ Transport and access arrangements for beneficiaries, workshop facilitators and panel guests
◦ Catering and hospitality for participants and beneficiaries
◦ Coordination with the Videographer and Communications Officer for event documentation and live coverage
Coordinate the practical organisation of the workshops at each tour event: room setup, equipment, facilitator briefing, participant registration.
Liaise with local partners at each location to confirm timings, and needs at each event.
Coordinate the setup and smooth running of the artisan and food producer market at each event, ensuring activities are adapted to the specific situation of each participant.
Ensure all beneficiaries have safe, supported, and dignified access to program activities throughout each event, without bearing any organisational or financial responsibility themselves.
Prepare follow-up documents and briefing notes for each event, in coordination with the program Manager.
Collect field data and observations at each event for evaluation and reporting purposes.
Administration, reporting, and documentation
Maintain clear, organised field documentation throughout the contract: attendance sheets, expense logs, partner correspondence, event reports, and beneficiary records.
Prepare brief field reports after each major activity (residency modules, shooting days, tour events) for submission to the program Manager.
Contribute directly to the program’s narrative reports by providing accurate field data, activity summaries, and supporting documentation.
Support the Program Manager administering surveys, collecting qualitative observations, and flagging any issues or unexpected outcomes in the field.
Location and Mobility
The field officer must be resident in Lebanon, ideally in or near Akkar or North Lebanon. A high degree of mobility is required throughout the 6 month contract. Numerous tasks (such as reporting, coordination, and some preparatory work can be handled remotely. A valid driving licence and a vehicle are required.
Profile and Qualifications
Required
• Minimum 5 to 6 years of experience in project coordination, field management, or event logistics, ideally in the NGO, cultural, or community development sector.
• Strong knowledge of and existing relationships within communities in Akkar, North Lebanon, and/or Hermel; familiarity with local civil society networks, women’s groups, and community intermediaries in these regions is a significant asset.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating field activities with diverse and vulnerable populations especially women and girls, including displaced communities and refugees, with sensitivity, dignity, and inclusion.
• Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous logistical workstreams under time pressure and in resource-constrained environments.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build trust quickly with community members, partners, and participants from varied backgrounds.
• Rigorous financial management skills: experience managing strict field budgets, cash advances, and expense reporting according to institutional requirements.
• Fluency in Arabic (essential). English is also an asset.
• Resident of Lebanon, ideally in or near Akkar or North Lebanon; valid driving licence required.
Preferred
• Prior experience working on arts and economic support community programs.
• Familiarity with women-led economic initiatives, artisan networks, or food producer communities in North Lebanon or Hermel.
• Experience coordinating multi-location public events or community tours.
• Knowledge of donor reporting, procurement and compliance requirements.
