Role: Communications Internship

Reports to: Country Representative, with day to day guidance from the designated communications and programme focal points
Base: Beirut-Furn El Chebbek, with possible visits to other WeWorld offices and field locations in Lebanon, including Zahle, Ain, Kobayat and Saida.
Background and ContextWeWorld has been operating in Lebanon since 2006, working across sectors including water governance, education, food security, livelihoods, local economic development and emergency response. Considering the evolution of its interventions, their wide reach and their multi sector nature, there is a need to strengthen communication, visibility, stakeholder engagement and information sharing about WeWorld programmes in Lebanon.
The Communications Intern will support WeWorld Lebanon in implementing communication and visibility activities under the supervision of the Country Representative and in coordination with programme teams and the Communications Focal Point at HQ. The internship is intended as a learning and support opportunity, with responsibilities adapted to the duration and level of the assignment.
Summary of Key Functions and ResponsibilitiesThe Communications Intern will provide practical support to the mission in collecting, organizing and preparing communication materials related to WeWorld activities in Lebanon. The Intern will work closely with programme teams, project managers, MEAL and support departments to help document activities, collect stories and visual materials, and support visibility and internal communication needs. All outputs will be reviewed and validated by the relevant focal points before internal or external dissemination.
Objectives of the Internship- Support the documentation and visibility of WeWorld activities and achievements in Lebanon.
- Contribute to the collection and organization of communication materials, including photos, videos, stories and basic updates from projects.
- Assist programme teams with simple communication, outreach and reporting inputs, under supervision.
- Support knowledge sharing and internal coordination through well organized communication materials and archives.
- Gain practical experience in communication work within an international non governmental organization.
A. Communication Planning and Coordination
- Support the preparation and follow up of basic communication plans for projects and mission level communication activities, in coordination with programme teams and HQ communication focal points.
- Collect regular updates, key achievements and activity highlights from programme teams for internal and external communication purposes.
- Support the tracking of planned communication deliverables and visibility requirements, under the guidance of the line manager or designated focal point.
- Assist in ensuring that communication activities are aligned with WeWorld and donor visibility guidelines, with validation from the relevant focal points.
B. Content Production and Documentation
- Support the drafting of simple communication materials, such as short updates, social media inputs, captions, basic articles, visibility notes and human interest stories.
- Assist in collecting and organizing photos, videos, testimonies and field updates from activities, ensuring that consent and protection considerations are respected.
- Support the development of case studies and success stories in coordination with programme teams, MEAL and HQ Communications.
- Help prepare basic communication products using simple design tools such as Canva, following WeWorld branding and donor visibility requirements.
- Support the organization and maintenance of a communication folder on SharePoint, including photos, videos, visibility materials, templates and other relevant documents.
- Provide logistical and administrative support for photo and video production, events, field visits or external consultants when needed.
C. Programme Support and Collaboration
- Work with programme teams to gather information, stories and visual materials from field activities for documentation and reporting purposes.
- Support the preparation of communication inputs for reports, presentations, information sheets and donor visibility products.
- Coordinate with MEAL colleagues when needed to include basic impact data, lessons learned or beneficiary feedback in communication products.
- Assist in preparing communication materials for community engagement, beneficiaries, local authorities, partners and other stakeholders.
D. Stakeholder and Donor Communication Support
- Support the preparation of donor visibility deliverables, including newsletters, information sheets, short updates and communication inputs, as requested.
- Assist in organizing and promoting events, workshops, campaigns or public awareness initiatives.
- Support the preparation of visibility materials for meetings, field visits and public events, ensuring consistency with approved templates and guidance.
- Assist project teams in checking basic visibility requirements, while final compliance and approval remain with the responsible staff.
E. Knowledge Management and Internal Communication
- Create and maintain a simple archive of communication materials, photos, videos, interviews and visibility products.
- Support the preparation of internal updates or newsletter inputs for WeWorld Lebanon, HQ and other missions when relevant.
- Help identify simple ways to improve internal sharing of communication materials and programme updates.
- Provide basic translation or language support when needed, particularly for communication materials in English and Arabic, depending on capacity.
Qualification and Knowledge
- Student, recent graduate or early career profile in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Marketing, Social Sciences or a related field.
- Good computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office applications.
- Basic knowledge of communication and design tools, such as Canva. Knowledge of Adobe Suite or other editing tools is an asset.
- Interest in photography, video production, editing or digital communication is an asset.
- Arabic proficiency.
- Good command of English is required.

- Availability for occasional field visits inside Lebanon, depending on security and operational needs.
- The Communications Intern will report to the Country Representative.
- The Intern will receive day to day guidance from the designated communication and programme focal points, depending on the activity.
- Regular coordination will take place with programme teams, MEAL and the Communications Focal Point in HQ to ensure alignment with programme objectives and organizational standards.
- All communication products prepared by the Intern will be reviewed and approved by the relevant supervisor or focal point before dissemination.
- Improved understanding of communication and visibility work in an international NGO context.
- Support provided to the organization of WeWorld Lebanon communication materials and archives.
- Draft communication inputs and basic visibility materials prepared under supervision.
- Stories, photos, updates or other field materials collected and organized in coordination with programme teams.
- Contribution to internal and external communication products during the internship period.
Internship Reimbursement: WeWorld will provide the Intern with a monthly reimbursement for transportation, equal to 100 USD (one hundred US dollars) per month.
