Berghof Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization supporting people in conflict in their efforts to achieve sustainable peace through conflict transformation and peacebuilding. Headquartered in Berlin, the organization is run by a diverse team and works with local partners around the world. Berghof Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Insider Mediators / Community Facilitators in Lebanon for our project “Rapid Response - host community engagement initiative”.
The Project Manager will be responsible to achieve the project objectives and lead and coordinate all stakeholders of the project. He/She will be responsible to coordinate with the finance and logs department and monitor the budget and expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the in implementing all Lebanon-related project activities (preparing content-wise and thematically, writing minutes, logistical support);
- Support in event planning, management and reporting;
- Ensure proper documentation of activities in Arabic and English and activity reporting;
- Support in donor reporting and proposal writing;
- Conduct research and context analysis and support the drafting of concept notes, background papers and training material;
- Support coordination on finance, logistics and administration issues; (component-related contracts under the responsibility of the project manager, liasing with finance and logistics on budget and event financing)
- Provide editorial, layout and translation support for project documents and publications;
- Coordinate development of communications material with Coms department in Berlin and contribute to external communication and visibility;
- Cooperate closely with the BF MENA staff members and project partners;
- Provide support in monitoring and evaluation, based on internal BF training and in coordination with the Head of Office.
Education:
- Bachelor degree in political science, peace studies or related field or relevant work experience in development projects
Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in project management in the peacebuilding/dialogue/conflict transformation fields
- Relevant experience working with Local actors, local development and social cohesion projects within a larger team in Lebanon
- Very good reporting skills
- Thorough knowledge of the Lebanese social and political context
- Proven work experience in the Arab region, preferably Lebanon
Further Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong knowledge of the local context in one or more of the target areas.
- Existing trust, credibility, or access within local communities.
- Experience in mediation, dialogue facilitation, community engagement, peacebuilding, social cohesion, humanitarian response, or related fields.
- Ability to engage respectfully with diverse groups, including host communities, displaced populations, youth, women, local leaders, and community responders.
- Strong communication, listening, and facilitation skills.
- Ability to identify tensions and analyse community dynamics in a balanced and conflict-sensitive manner.
- Ability to work under pressure and in sensitive environments.
- Neutrality, impartiality, and respect for diversity.
- Good judgment, discretion, and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
