The Communication Manager will lead the establishment and operationalization of the Mouvement Social Communication Department and drive integrated communication strategies aligned with organizational priorities, advocacy objectives, fundraising efforts, and community engagement.
The role is central to positioning the organization as a credible, youth-centered, and impactful civil society actor while ensuring coherent branding, media visibility, digital growth, and stakeholder engagement.
Job Purpose
The Communication Manager is responsible for developing, leading, and implementing the organization’s communication, media, branding, digital engagement, and public visibility strategies. The role ensures effective internal and external communication, supports advocacy and fundraising objectives, strengthens organizational reputation, and enhances engagement with youth, communities, donors, partners, and the public.
The Communication Manager will establish communication systems, workflows, SOPs, editorial governance, and media relations mechanisms while overseeing content production, digital platforms, campaigns, and organizational visibility initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Strategic Communication & Department Leadership
- Lead the establishment and development of the Communication Department.
- Develop and implement annual communication and visibility strategies aligned with organizational strategic objectives.
- Establish communication governance structures, workflows, editorial processes, and SOPs.
- Develop departmental workplans, budgets, KPIs, and reporting systems.
- Ensure alignment between communication activities and organizational priorities, advocacy initiatives, and business development efforts.
- Advise senior management on communication risks, opportunities, and positioning.
2. Brand Management & Organizational Visibility
- Ensure consistent application of organizational branding across all centers, programs, materials, and public platforms.
- Develop and maintain brand guidelines, messaging frameworks, and communication standards.
- Lead visibility initiatives, institutional campaigns, annual reports, newsletters, and public awareness efforts.
- Strengthen the organization’s positioning as a thought leader in social and community development.
3. Media Relations & Public Engagement
- Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, influencers, and communication partners.
- Prepare media kits, press releases, talking points, and spokesperson briefings.
- Coordinate interviews, press conferences, media appearances, and public events.
- Lead media monitoring and reputation management efforts.
- Develop crisis communication and rapid response protocols.
4. Digital Communication & Content Management
- Lead digital communication strategy across social media, website, and multimedia platforms.
- Oversee content planning, editorial calendars, and digital campaigns.
- Supervise production of high-quality multimedia content, including videos, stories, graphics, and publications.
- Monitor digital analytics and audience engagement to optimize communication performance.
- Support innovative digital engagement formats targeting youth and communities.
5. Youth & Community Engagement
- Support the development of youth engagement and alumni communication initiatives.
- Promote participatory storytelling and community-centered communication approaches.
- Ensure safeguarding, consent, and ethical communication standards in all public content.
- Support youth ambassador and volunteer communication initiatives.
6. Advocacy & Fundraising Communication Support
- Design integrated communication campaigns supporting advocacy priorities and fundraising initiatives.
- Collaborate with Advocacy and Business Development teams to produce donor visibility materials, campaigns, and communication products.
- Contribute to donor engagement and external stakeholder communication efforts.
- Support production of impact stories, case studies, and communication materials for proposals and reports.
7. Internal Communication & Coordination
- Strengthen internal communication mechanisms across departments and centers.
- Establish communication request and approval systems.
- Facilitate editorial coordination meetings and communication planning processes.
- Build communication capacity among focal points and program teams.
8. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
- Develop communication KPIs, dashboards, and reporting mechanisms.
- Analyze media coverage, audience engagement, campaign effectiveness, and digital growth metrics.
- Produce periodic communication performance reports for management and donors.
- Ensure continuous improvement through data-driven communication strategies.

Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.
- Master’s degree is an asset.
Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressively responsible experience in communication, media, public relations, or advocacy communication.
- Experience in NGOs, INGOs, civil society, humanitarian, or development sectors preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing communication campaigns, media relations, and digital platforms.
- Experience establishing communication systems and SOPs is an asset.
- Experience working with youth engagement and community-based communication initiatives is desirable.
