Purpose of the role
Provides technical support on the operational management and maintenance of a community center, ensuring that the building, equipment and safety features meet agreed standards and are handed over properly to the relevant stakeholders.
Key responsibilities (summary)
- Review and advise on the condition of the building, finishes and basic systems (civil/architectural, and coordination with MEP specialists as needed).
- Contribute to the initial handover and verification of the building and installed equipment, including simple checklists and photo documentation.
- Support the development or adaptation of basic operation and maintenance (O&M) procedures and checklists for facility staff.
- Conduct periodic visits to monitor the state of the facility, identify maintenance needs and prioritize actions, in coordination with Facility Supervisors and management.
- Provide short technical reports and recommendations in clear, non‑technical language for program staff and partners.
Profile
- University degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture (or closely related field).
- At least 10-15 years of relevant experience in building construction, rehabilitation, supervision or facilities management; experience with community, educational or public buildings is an asset.
- Familiarity with basic building codes, safety standards and accessibility considerations.
- Ability to translate technical issues into practical guidance for non‑technical colleagues.
- Willingness to conduct periodic site visits and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
