Position’s mission:

Under the supervision of the Project Manager and in close collaboration with the Regional MHPSS Specialist, the MHPSS Officer ensures effective implementation of MHPSS projects, focusing on quality and consistency of technical standards within project activities. The MHPSS Officer is responsible for delivering technical expertise and providing training to HI teams, partners, and community stakeholders involved in MHPSS activities, ensuring the alignment of interventions with identified needs and program objectives. The MHPSS Officer is also tasked with building the technical capacity of partners and providing coaching to ensure the efficient and impactful delivery of MHPSS services. The MHPSS Officer works collaboratively with the Project Manager and Regional MHPSS Specialist to support project teams in implementing effective MHPSS interventions and achieving high-quality outcomes in response to project goals.

 

Reports to: Project Manager (PM)

Interacts with:

- Internal: project team, RTU, MEAL staff, support services staff.

- External: The project partners, the authorities in the project area of implementation, other stakeholders including local organizations, INGOs and UN agencies in the area of implementation, relevant Clusters/Working Groups.

Based:

  • in Beirut with frequent field visits to other areas of intervention

 

Mission and Responsibilities:

Responsibility 1: Providing guidance and technical support to project’s activities in accordance with the technical frameworks and general standards of his/her sectoral scope

Activities:

  • Provide appropriate technical guidance and support to rehabilitation therapists and other stakeholders in the area of expertise. 
  • Ensure project(s) activities are implemented in accordance with internal quality and technical standards and propose adjustments or improvements as necessary.
  • Adapt project documentation as required, in accordance with global technical standards and norms.
  • Contribute to the regular reporting of technical activities of its scope (collection and analysis of technical data collected) in conjunction with the project team and the MEAL team.

Responsibility 2: Providing project-based technical learning

Activities:

  • Collect the elements necessary for capitalization exercises or scientific documentation.
  • Contribute to the technical learning of projects based on lessons learned and good practices 
  • Implement recommendations to improve the technical quality of projects.
  • Ensure the technical quality and relevance of project activities implemented within their area of expertise; conduct self-evaluation of their project and participate in evaluation cycles under the supervision of the PM.
  • Take ownership of norms and standards anticipates and prepares for nexus adjustments.
  • Contribute to data collection for research activities.
  • Contribute to the terms of reference for evaluations.

 Responsibility 3: Contributing to the animation of his/her sector

Activities:

  • Contribute to or lead the technical training required in rehabilitation. 
  • Contribute to the skills upgrading plan for professionals in its sector and may be a third-party assessor.
  • May contribute to the development of a local talent pool within his/her sector (conducts technical interviews of candidates and makes recommendations, identifies training and coaching needs).
  • Contribute to the collection of operational data to ensure adequate monitoring of activities or ad hoc data collection activities, and ensure appropriate measurement of project completion in his/her area of expertise.
  • Ensure that data processing is established and carried out in accordance with the rules and principles set by the IM/MEAL and by the technical councils of the sector of expertise.

Responsibility 4: Emergency Preparedness and Response Responsibilities

Activities:

  • Contribute to the support or implementation of emergency preparedness actions of the program(s) and, during an emergency, adapts his/her work modality in order to contribute to an effective HI humanitarian response.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Essential: University degree in Occupational with MOPH license to practice.

Experience:

  • Essential: Minimum 3 years of professional experience in occupational therapy.
  • Essential: Experience in providing capacity building and coaching to teams.
  • Desirable: Previous experience working in emergency response.
  • Desirable: knowledge of referral mechanisms.

Language:

  • Essential: English (high proficiency)
  • Essential: Arabic (mother tongue)

Other skills:

Essential:

  • Essential: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PP, Outlook…)
  • Experience to translate written technical documents from English into Arabic
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Autonomy in work
  • Excellent reporting capacity skills (written and oral communication)
  • Ability to work with partners
  • Knowledge of referral mechanism
  • Ability to develop accessible information materials

Basic salary ranges for the position is going to be paid according to the experience and to HI salary Grid.

Contract Type: Full time.

Duration of Employment: 3 months

Basic Salary: Starting 1704.13 USD
