The Opportunity
The Education Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the implementation of Education projects in Lebanon, under the supervision of the Education Programme Manager and in close coordination with technical and support departments, including local implementing partners.
The role supports the delivery of quality Non-Formal Education (NFE), Formal Education (FE), and Education in Emergencies (EiE) interventions, ensuring activities are implemented effectively, on time, and in line with donor requirements, safeguarding standards, and organisational priorities.
Under the direct supervision of the Education Programme Manager, the Education Project Coordinator oversees project implementation, monitoring, reporting, and partner coordination, while ensuring strong integration with Child Protection and psychosocial support approaches.
The post-holder works closely with partners, field teams, and internal departments including MERL, Finance, Operations, and Grants to ensure quality programme delivery and compliance in a fast-paced humanitarian environment.
- Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of Education and EiE activities
- Develop and monitor detailed implementation plans, activity tracking tools, and budget forecasts
- Ensure quality implementation of NFE, FE, and EiE interventions in coordination with partners and technical teams
- Conduct regular field monitoring visits to assess progress, quality, and safeguarding compliance
- Support the implementation and tracking of project monitoring and evaluation frameworks
- Coordinate closely with implementing partners to ensure timely and effective delivery of activities
- Monitor project expenditure, support budget re-phasing and re-alignment, and follow up on financial documentation
- Contribute to donor, weekly, and monthly reporting, including progress updates and lessons learned
- Maintain effective relationships with MEHE, local authorities, sector actors, and partner organisations
- Represent the project in Education Sector Working Groups and coordination forums as delegated
- Ensure activities align with INEE standards, Child Protection principles, safeguarding policies, and donor regulations
- Support capacity strengthening and ongoing coaching for facilitators, field teams, and partner staff
About You
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the humanitarian and development context in Lebanon, particularly barriers affecting children’s access to education
- Strong understanding of Education in Emergencies (EiE), including learning recovery, retention, and psychosocial support approaches
- Knowledge of national education frameworks, MEHE coordination mechanisms, and child protection principles
- Familiarity with international standards and guidelines, including INEE Minimum Standards, CPMS, IASC Guidelines, and safeguarding principles
- Degree in Education, Social Sciences, International Development, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in humanitarian or development programming
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Education and/or Child Protection programming
- Proven experience in project coordination, implementation, monitoring, and partner management
- Experience working with NGOs, CSOs, and governmental institutions
- Strong organisational, coordination, and reporting skills
- Good financial management and budget tracking skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Strong communication, facilitation, and teamwork skills
- Commitment to child safeguarding, gender equality, and inclusion
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to project locations in Lebanon
Location and Working Pattern
This role is based in Lebanon and requires regular travel to project locations. The position includes a balance of office-based and field-based work.
Level of Contact with Children: Mid contact - occasional interaction with children
Travel: In-country travel is estimated at 50%.
