Background
DCA Lebanon aims to ensure safe access to land by clearing it of landmines, cluster munitions, and other unexploded ordnance. DCA has been involved in mine action since 2007, reducing the harm from explosions, as well as clearance activities release contaminated land for socio-economic development, addressing the rising demands from the local and refugee populations.
Since 2012, DCA has been implementing humanitarian and development projects through local partners in the areas of education, livelihoods, protection, and basic assistance, supporting vulnerable communities.

Role
The Communications Officer will lead and support the production of high-quality, engaging, and results-oriented communication content that highlights DanChurchAid (DCA) Lebanon’s humanitarian and development interventions across emergency response, mine action, agroecology, livelihoods, human rights, digital protection, and localization. The position will play a key role in enhancing DCA’s visibility, documenting impact, strengthening donor communications, and promoting community-centered storytelling through digital and traditional communication channels.
The role aims to strengthen DCA’s visibility, donor engagement, digital presence, and storytelling while ensuring ethical and conflict-sensitive communication practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement communication strategies that effectively convey DCA’s mission, values, and impact to external audiences.
- Develop high-quality human-interest stories, success stories, articles, donor visibility materials, and digital content that effectively communicate the impact of DCA Lebanon’s programs and interventions.
- Conduct interviews and gather testimonies from beneficiaries, staff, partners, and stakeholders to document program achievements, lessons learned, and community impact.
- Capture high-quality photographs and video footage during field visits, emergency responses, trainings, awareness sessions, and community engagement activities, ensuring compliance with DCA communication and safeguarding standards.
- Produce and edit short videos, reels, multimedia packages, and social media content tailored for various digital platforms and target audiences.
- Maintain a well-organized and accessible archive of communication assets, including photos, videos, publications, and visibility materials.
- Support emergency communication and advocacy efforts through timely, accurate, and impactful content production during rapid response interventions.
- Ensure all communication products comply with DCA branding guidelines and donor visibility requirements.
- Collaborate closely with program teams across all sectors to identify impactful storytelling opportunities, communication priorities, and field-based content that reflects DCA Lebanon’s interventions and achievements.
- Coordinate with management, technical teams, and support departments to ensure compliance with donor visibility requirements, branding guidelines, and organizational communication standards.
- Support the planning, coverage, and visibility of events, workshops, trainings, awareness sessions, campaigns, and roundtables through effective communication and media content production.
- Manage and strengthen audience engagement across DCA Lebanon’s digital platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other relevant communication channels.
- Develop and implement communication plans, editorial calendars, and digital campaigns aligned with key international observances, humanitarian priorities, advocacy initiatives, and organizational events.
- Produce engaging and audience-tailored content for newsletters, press releases, website updates, social media platforms, publications, and other internal and external communication channels to enhance DCA’s visibility and outreach.
- Contribute to strengthening DCA Lebanon’s public profile and stakeholder engagement through consistent, creative, and impact-driven communication initiatives.
- Produce 2–4 high-quality human-interest stories, success stories, or field-based articles per month that highlight the impact of DCA Lebanon’s programs and interventions.
- Develop and publish regular digital and social media content in line with the approved communication strategy and editorial calendar.
- Capture and produce high-quality photo and video documentation during field missions, emergency responses, trainings, awareness sessions, and community activities.
- Design and develop communication and visibility materials, including:
- Social media visuals and campaigns
- Infographics and data visualization products
- Event and workshop materials
- Donor visibility and branding materials
- Reports and presentation visuals
- Support communication activities before, during, and after events through promotional content, live coverage, photography/videography, and post-event summaries.
- Monitor social media performance, audience engagement, and digital communication trends to support continuous improvement and optimization of outreach efforts.
- Facilitate the documentation and internal sharing of best practices, lessons learned, and program success stories to strengthen organizational learning and visibility.
- Ensure all communication products comply with DCA communication standards, donor visibility requirements, and organizational branding guidelines.
- Apply ethical storytelling principles, safeguarding standards, informed consent procedures, and Do No Harm approaches in all communication activities and outputs.
- Identify communication-related risks, including reputational and safeguarding concerns, and proactively contribute to mitigation measures and responsible content management.
Experience and Technical Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Media, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Previous experience working in an NGO in a similar role is required
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic is required.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt content to different audiences and platforms.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively across teams.
- Knowledge of ethical storytelling, safeguarding, informed consent, and Do No Harm principles is desirable.
Education, Languages, and Skills
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in communications, media, or humanitarian communication, preferably within an NGO/INGO environment.
Demonstrated experience in:
- Human-interest storytelling
- Social media management
- Photography and videography
- Graphic design
Multimedia content production:
- Ability to capture high-quality visual content and produce engaging digital communication materials in field settings.
- Proficiency in communication and design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar platforms.
- Experience working in humanitarian, emergency response, mine action, livelihoods, agroecology, or agriculture-related programs is considered a strong asset.
Reporting
- Regular reports on the performance and services will be submitted to the Head of Program on a weekly basis.
- Regular check-ins and feedback sessions will be conducted to ensure effective coordination and support.
