The Field Assistant will support the implementation of field activities, including household assessments, beneficiary registration, and distribution processes, ensuring that assistance is delivered efficiently.

Role Objective:The Field Assistant will support the implementation of field activities, including household assessments, beneficiary registration, and distribution processes, ensuring that assistance is delivered efficiently, transparently, and in line with project criteria and humanitarian standards.
Key Responsibilities:1. Field Implementation
- Support the planning and execution of field activities, including needs assessments and distributions
- Assist in household-level data collection using digital tools (e.g. Kobo)
- Support verification of beneficiary eligibility based on vulnerability criteria
- Ensure accurate beneficiary registration and documentation
2. Distribution Support
- Assist in organizing and managing distribution sites
- Support crowd control and ensure safe, orderly distributions
- Verify beneficiary lists and assist in item distribution
- Ensure proper documentation of distributed items and beneficiary signatures
3. Coordination & Communication
- Coordinate with Field Officers and other team members during daily operations
- Liaise with community members in a professional and respectful manner
- Report any issues, complaints, or protection concerns to the supervisor
4. Monitoring & Reporting
- Support data collection for monitoring purposes
- Report daily field updates, challenges, and observations
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of collected data
5. Compliance & Safeguarding
- Adhere to SHiFT’s Code of Conduct, safeguarding, and PSEA policies
- Ensure accountability to affected populations during all interactions
- Respect confidentiality and uphold the dignity of beneficiaries
6. Logistics, Warehousing & Archiving
- Support the receiving and inspection of delivered items to ensure quantities and quality match the approved documentation.
- Support stock counting and tracking of distributed and remaining items
- Ensure proper filing and archiving of procurement, distribution, and beneficiary documents
- Assist in preparing distribution kits and arranging items prior to field distributions
- Coordinate with logistics and procurement teams regarding item movements and delivery schedules
- Support loading and unloading activities during transportation and distribution operations
- Ensure all distribution and warehouse documentation is complete, signed, and properly archived
- Report any discrepancies, damaged items, or stock issues to the supervisor immediately
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum high school diploma (Bachelor’s degree is an asset)
- Previous experience in humanitarian or NGO field work is preferred
- Familiarity with data collection tools (Kobo or similar) is an asset
- Ability to work under pressure in emergency contexts
