Psychiatrist (Mental Health Programme – PHC)

The Good Shepherd Sisters are looking for a qualified and compassionate Psychiatrist to join our Primary Healthcare Center (PHC) team.

The Psychiatrist will provide specialized mental health services within the PHC, including psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and follow-up care. The role also involves supporting the integration of mental health services into primary healthcare and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive, patient-centered care.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and establish diagnoses for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults as appropriate

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices

• Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with clinical guidelines

• Provide psychiatric consultations and follow-up care for patients with mental health conditions

• Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care

• Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and treatment planning

• Provide guidance and capacity-building support to PHC staff on mental health-related issues

• Ensure accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of patient records

• Participate in awareness, prevention, and health promotion activities related to mental health

• Contribute to monitoring, reporting, and quality improvement initiatives within the mental health programme

• Adhere to ethical standards, organizational policies, and clinical protocols

 

Requirements

•  Medical Doctor (MD) degree from a recognized university (Specialization in Psychiatry)

• Valid license to practice in Lebanon

• Registration with the Lebanese Order of Physicians

• Previous experience in mental health services, preferably within primary healthcare, community-based, humanitarian, or development settings

• Experience working with vulnerable populations is an asset

• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams

• Commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality, and patient-centered care

• Familiarity with the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) Mental Health Programme and PHC Network is an asset
