UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has provided shelter assistance to nearly 3,400 displaced families and distributed essential household items to 14,000 families across Yemen in 2024, thanks to the generous $7 million USD contribution from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief).

With the deteriorating economic conditions, Ramadhan festivities have become less normal for most Yemenis as they struggle to afford them. This comes at a time of decline in the value of the local currency in GoY controlled areas , along with rising prices of basic food items and reduced income earning opportunities.

According to the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), about 19.5 million people are projected to need humanitarian assistance in 2025, including 17.1 million (almost half of the population) facing acute food insecurity.

As Yemen marks ten years of conflict and crisis, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) warns that a widening chasm between rising humanitarian needs and the funding required to alleviate them risks leaving millions of Yemenis without access to food, healthcare and protection services.

Today marks 10 years since the start of conflict in Yemen. The devastating impacts of this conflict, a changing climate, a deteriorating economy and collapsing public services have led to a dire humanitarian situation, with over half of the population in need of assistance and protection services.

With millions in Yemen struggling to afford food, shelter, and other essentials, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with support from Qatar Charity, has provided Multi-Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA) to more than 18,500 people over the past two years, surpassing the project’s original target of around 12,000.

We, the members of the Alliance for Empowering Partnership (A4EP), a collective voice of global Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and advocates of localization of humanitarian actions, stand in collective solidarity with the people of Lebanon as they face an escalating humanitarian crisis resulting from the war that has raged since 2023. A4EP, a global alliance of Southern organisations, the 63rd and the newest signatory,  will ensure GB policy discourses remain centred on affected populations and informed  by the experiences of local actors to strengthen effective, efficient and timely  responses through a nexus approach. A4EP commits to working together with  international actors to address the barriers in establishing equitable partnerships with  local actors. We will work with others to ensure distributive and collaborative decision 
making in the global governance of the Grand Bargain and at the country level.

The May 2016 World Humanitarian Summit brought together 9,000 participants. They came from 180
Member States, included 55 Heads of State and Government, 700 NGOs and CSOs, of which 350 national and
local ones, and 250 international ones, 350 representatives of the private sector, 130 representatives of the
UN agencies, funds and programmes and other stakeholders including academia, faith-based leaders, and
media. It was a culmination of an almost a two-years long multi-stakeholder process, costing millions of
dollars.

The World Humanitarian Summit(WHS) consultation process opened the space for voices of local and national actors about their experience of the global humanitarian system and its impact locally. As part of the preparations for the WHS in 2016, the High-Level Panel on Humanitarian Financing sought solutions to close the humanitarian financing gap. Their report made recommendations to shrink the needs, deepen and broaden the resource base for humanitarian action, and to improve delivery.

أتاحت المشاورات في مؤتمر القمة العالمي للعمل الإنساني (WHS) المجال لسماع أصوات الجهات الفاعلة المحلية والوطنية حول تجاربهم بالنظام الإنساني العالمي وتأثيره المحلي عليهم. وكجزء من الاستعدادات لمؤتمر القمة العالمي للعمل الإنساني في عام 2016، سعى فريق الخبراء رفيع المستوى المعني بتمويل الشؤون الإنسانية إلى تحديد سبل لسد فجوة التمويل الإنساني. وقدّم تقرير الفريق توصيات لتقليص الاحتياجات، وتعميق وتوسيع قاعدة الموارد للعمل الإنساني، وتحسين التسليم.
