The Humanitarian Country Team in Lebanon, led by the Humanitarian Coordinator and supplementing national efforts, continues to respond to the humanitarian needs of the people affected by the increase in hostilities in Lebanon.

An official delegation from Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has arrived in Beirut, Lebanon, aboard the latest Qatari Emiri Air Force (QEAF) aircraft, deployed with a new shipment of humanitarian aid from QRCS, as part of the Qatari airlift in support of the people affected by the recent military escalation in Lebanon.

قام وفد رسمي من المقر الرئيسي للهلال الأحمر القطري في الدوحة بمرافقة طائرة القوات الجوية الأميرية القطرية التي وصلت أمس الاثنين إلى مطار رفيق الحريري الدولي بالعاصمة اللبنانية بيروت، وعلى متنها شحنة جديدة من المساعدات الإنسانية المقدمة من الهلال الأحمر القطري، ضمن الجسر الجوي القطري لدعم الأشقاء اللبنانيين المتضررين من التطورات الجار ية مؤخراً.

UNRWA is working with a range of partner organisations (community based, local NGOs and international NGOs) in all its emergency shelters to provide a full range of services, including hot meals and psychosocial support activities. In its emergency response, UNRWA has relied on the dedication and commitment of partners on the ground.

Airstrikes continued across the country, including in Nabatieh, Bekaa, Baalbek, South Lebanon and Mount Lebanon governorates, and the number of casualties increased to 2,593 people killed and more than 12,000 injured since 8 October 2023, according to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).

Children and families in Lebanon continue to be directly affected by the deteriorating humanitarian crisis and violent intensification of hostilities across the country.

To date, the Government of Lebanon reports that over 1 million people have been displaced internally, while more than 400,000 (30% Lebanese and 70% Syrian) have fled to Syria, according to UNHCR.

As part of the Interagency response, UNHCR has released an Emergency Appeal for Lebanon, urgently seeking to $111 million to scale up the response and cover immediate needs across all vulnerable population groups, including Lebanese and refugee.

Demographic Distribution & Vulnerability

Since 24 September 2024, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) has been conducting Rapid Needs Assessments (RNA) and Key Informative Interviews to identify and address the evolving needs of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). As of 17 October, the assessments involved 1,892 displaced families, compromising 8,877 individuals: 1,576 Lebanese, 296 Syrians, 11 Palestinian Refugees in Lebanon, two Palestinian Refugees from Syria, and seven individuals from other nationalities. 32% of the surveyed individuals are children under 15, 8% are elderly, and 4%...

A joint UN convoy including UNRWA has successfully delivered urgently needed aid to Lebanon for the first time since violence escalated there at the end of September.

The Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) expresses its deep concern regarding the escalation of hostilities in Lebanon, which has resulted in a significant loss of life, injury, and displacement.

Since early October 2024, Israeli airstrikes and ground operations in Lebanon have intensified and expanded, hitting civilian infrastructure, leading over 541,000 people to flee southern Lebanon and the southern suburbs of Beirut.
