Since October 2023, over 10,200 attacks have occurred along the Blue Line, resulting in substantial casualties. More than one million people have been directly affected and/or displaced across Lebanon, with nearly 160,000 in over 850 collective shelters, often in public facilities like schools and agricultural centers.

Since the escalation of the hostilities in Lebanon, approximately 220,000 people are believed to have crossed the border to Syria through both official and unofficial border crossing points.

Members of the Collective of Social Protection Experts, are writing to the World Bank concerning the latest agreement on a loan for the Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN).

In light of our previous statements that have repeatedly voiced the importance and urgency of universal social protection, we, the collective of social protection experts, maintain that subsidisation or de-subsidisation are not the solutions for addressing long lasting inequality and inequity in the country. In the current crises that Lebanon is witnessing, we reiterate the urgency to enact a comprehensive universal social protection framework, based on a social contract, and guaranteeing protection for all during their life-cycle.

We are a group of experts coming from diversified academic, professional, and political backgrounds, with longstanding experience in social, economic, and fiscal domains.

A group of experts convened on 21 January, 2020, to assess the social impact of the economic and financial crises, as well as their transmission channels, and to provide broad recommendations to mitigate its potential effects. يحتفل العالم في 9 ديسمبر من كل عام باليوم العالمي لمكافحة الفساد، والذي حددته الجمعية العامة للامم المتحدة بهدف زيادة الوعي بالفساد ودور اتفاقية الامم المتحدة لمكافحة الفساد ومنعه، وقد اختارت الامم المتحد ان تكون الحملة حتى عام 2030 تحت شعار”الفساد: عائق لأهداف التنمية المستدامة”، وتركز هذا العام على كيفية تأثير الفساد على التعليم والصحة والعدالة والديمقراطية والازدهار والتنمية.
وكانت الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة قد اعتمدت اتفاقية مكافحة الفساد في 31 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2003، ودخلت حيز النفاذ في ديسمبر 2005، اعتمدت ،...
