In light of our previous statements that have repeatedly voiced the importance and urgency of universal social protection, we, the collective of social protection experts, maintain that subsidisation or de-subsidisation are not the solutions for addressing long lasting inequality and inequity in the country. In the current crises that Lebanon is witnessing, we reiterate the urgency to enact a comprehensive universal social protection framework, based on a social contract, and guaranteeing protection for all during their life-cycle.

The signatory organizations call for action to protect migrant workers as 13 migrant workers reported that their rights have been violated at Caritas Lebanon shelter.

قررت 13 عاملة إثيوبية في 22 حزيران مغادرة ملجأ كاريتاس لبنان الذي نقلتهنّ إليه وزارة العمل من أمام قنصلية بلادهنّ حيث تُركن في أيار وحزيران 2020. وأحالت العاملات السبب إلى تعرّضهنّ لانتهاكات في حقوقهنّ. 

وأعلنت وزارة العمل أنها سوف تجري التحقيقات اللازمة في هذه القضية وتلاحق أي موظِّفين أو موظفات يثبت ارتكابهم/نّ انتهاكات.

وبعد مغادرتهنّ الملجأ، قابلت حركة مناهضة العنصرية والمركز اللبناني لحقوق الإنسان العاملات الأجنبيات اللواتي أفدن بأنهنّ احتجزن منذ 5 حزيران من دون إعطائهنّ أية معلومات عن وضعهنّ ومصيرهنّ. كما أنهنّ كنّ محتجزات في الملجأ طوال الوقت ولم يحصلن إلّا على الطعام ومكان للنوم ولم يسمح...

On Thursday May 7th, 2020 a group of Charity Donation members went on a goodwill visit to NUSROTO foundation. This drug rehabilitation center has a jail for youngsters along its premises, whereas two persons shared their stories to the team. As a token of respect to this mission, Charity Donation donates 200 boxes of Love Bites while explaining the project.

It is heartwarming to see persons such Father Marwan Ghanem and Ms. Rima Turk dedicating their lives to help persons with severe drug cases.

بيان هيئات المجتمع المدني بشأن حقوق اللاجئين

مؤسسات المجتمع المدني اللبناني قلقة بشأن الخطاب الشعبوي السلبي المتعلق بأزمة اللاجئين  وما يمكن ان ينتج عنه من انتهاكات يكون اللاجئون والمجتمع المضيف ضحيتها، وتدعو الدولة اللبنانية الى تحمل مسؤوليتها في هذا الملف من خلال تحديد موقف حكومي واحد وواضح، وتضمين البيان الوزاري للحكومة المستقبلية موقفا وخطة واضحة للاستجابة لازمة اللاجئين تراعي معايير حقوق الانسان والتزامات لبنان الدولية.

خلال الأسابيع الأخيرة ازدادت وتيرة المواقف المعلنة لعدد من السياسيين اللبنانيين عن ازمة اللاجئين ودعوتهم الى العودة الفورية واتهام المجتمع الدولي بالتشجيع على توطينهم...
