The Learn2Volunteer mobile application, developed under the Erasmus+ funded Learn2Volunteer Reloaded project, offers young people an innovative digital space for volunteering, learning, and community engagement. Through interactive micro-learning modules, mentoring support, digital badges, and a GIS map of civic initiatives, the platform empowers youth to develop skills, access volunteering opportunities, and become active contributors to positive social change across the region.

Medrar Foundation organized an awareness session titled “Parenting in Times of Challenges: Balancing Firmness and Emotional Support” at the Al-Masaken Al-Shaabiyya in Tyre. The session brought together local women for an engaging discussion led by Mrs. Batoul Moussa, with the participation of psychotherapist Mrs. Layla Reda Safieddine, founder of Layla Center. Participants received symbolic gifts as a gesture of appreciation.

Mental Health Matters – Awareness Program by Medrar Foundation and LAU Civic Engagement Students In partnership with the Lebanese American University (LAU) Civic Engagement Students, Medrar Foundation launched a community initiative titled “Mental Health Matters.” The program aimed to break the stigma surrounding mental health in Lebanon and to equip individuals—especially youth and parents—with practical coping tools to manage stress, anxiety, and emotional distress during economic and social hardships.

In collaboration with the Lebanese American University’s Civic Engagement students, Medrar Foundation launched an awareness program titled “Health on a Budget”, aimed at educating communities on how to maintain and improve their health through affordable and practical approaches.

This experience allowed me to uncover the roots of our differences and gain a deeper understanding of our divergent orientations and visions, despite our shared values.

Children in Lebanon are at growing risk of health and protection issues – including waterborne diseases like cholera, hepatitis and diarrhoea – as the continued bombardment of the country increasingly disrupts and damages essential services that families rely on.

I join you here today not just as a representative of UNICEF, but as a witness to the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe in Lebanon. Earlier this week, Carl Skau and I met families who have lost everything except hope.

Highlights

• The government of Lebanon continues coordinating efforts to support over one million people affected by the escalation of hostilities on the Lebanon-Israel border. Nearly 75 percent of all casualties in the conflict took place since mid-September 2024, including reports of more than 890 children injured, and 127 children killed.
• National authorities have opened more than 1,060 collective shelters for over 188,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) – half of them women and children. Approximately 80 per cent of shelters are full.

The Erasmus+ project CINEMATOMEDIA: Teaching Democracy through Cinema is excited to announce its launch. This innovative project aims to empower youth organizations across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) by harnessing the power of cinema to foster political and democratic engagement among young people.

أطلقت المؤسسة الفلسطينية لحقوق الإنسان (شاهد) تقريرها السنويّ للعام 2023، مسلطةً الضوء على أبرز المستجدات حول واقع اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في لبنان، ومعرجّةً على أوضاعالفلسطينيين في الأراضي الفلسطينية المحتلة. عُني التقرير بعناوين عدّة، أبرزها الأوضاع القانونية للاجئين الفلسطينيين في لبنان، وتقييم لأداء الأونروا خلال عام 2023، إضافة لأوضاع اللاجئين في قطاع غزة في ظل الحرب المستمرة عليهم، وخلص في الختام إلى مجموعة من التوصيات التي من شأنها أن تحسّن من أوضاع اللاجئين الفلسطينيين وتحفظ لهم حقوقهم.

أقامت جمعية "سوا للتنمية" بالتعاون مع "المجموعة النسائية الدولية للسلام" IWPG في كوريا الجنوبية مباراة رسم حول موضوع السلام تحت عنوان" لنكن أصدقاء للسلام" شارك في المسابقة 160 تلميذ من المدرسة الأميركية العالمية رياق ومدارس مخيمات قب الياس والمنصورة ومركز المأمون في مجدل عنجر. كان الهدف من المباراة نشر ثقافة السلام للاجيال القادمة وايصال مفهوم السلام عبر الرسم للاطفال والشباب الذين يعانون من الحروب والنزاعات

نظمت جمعية "We Are Lebanon"، تحت شعار "ابتسامتهم تصنع مستقبلا أفضل"، إفطارا خيريا ترفيهيا للأطفال في مركز "روك أند رول" في صيدا، بمشاركة 150 طفلا من جمعيتي "أهلنا" و"رعاية اليتيم" وتحت إشراف 35 متطوعة.

تحت شعار "ابتسامتهم تصنع مستقبلاً أفضل" وفي باكورة أنشطتها، نظمت جمعية "We Are Lebanon" إفطارًا خيريًا ترفيهياً للأطفال في مركز "روك أند رول" في صيدا بمشاركة نحو 150 طفلاً من جمعيتي " أهلنا" و"رعاية اليتيم " في صيدا وتحت اشراف 35 متطوعة. وسبق الإفطار ورافقه عرضٌ ترفيهي وأنشطة تفاعلية ورسم وتلوين على الوجوه ومسابقات بمشاركة الشخصية الكرتونية الشهيرة ميكي ماوس وشخصية " المهرج " وعرض الفقاعات "bubble show". وبحسب القيمين على هذه الأنشطة ، فإنها تهدف لأن يعيش الأطفال بهجة العيد ولدعم صحتهم النفسية ومدهم بالطاقة الإيجابية في خضم ما يشهده لبنان من أزمات.

يسرّ المركز الدولي للعدالة الانتقالية الإعلان عن مسابقة "المتيقظون" الفنية، وهي عبارة عن دعوة مفتوحة للفنانين اللبنانيين والتونسيين، وكذلك الفنانين المقيمين في لبنان أو تونس، للخوض في موضوع "صوت معارضة الواقع". وستعرض المسابقة أعمال أولئك الذين يقومون بتوثيق وإحياء ذكرى قصص مجتمعاتهم خلال فترات عدم الاستقرار والمقاومة والتغيير.

The International Center for Transitional Justice (ICTJ) is pleased to announce the “Wide Awake Art Contest,” an open call to Lebanese and Tunisian artists as well as artists living in Lebanon or Tunisia to explore the theme “the Sound of Dissent.” The contest will showcase works by those who are documenting and memorializing their communities’ stories in times of instability, resistance, and change.

#EMPOWERINGYOUTH

Youth in Lebanon and particularly in areas such as Akkar and North Lebanon have long been marginalized and suffer from lack of access to education and employment opportunities. The situation has recently been further exacerbated by the economic crisis.

According to a report by the World Bank, Lebanon faces high youth unemployment and inactivity with 40 percent of youth neither in employment nor in education or training, which had led to loss of human capital through migration, mostly of the educated youth[1].
